The axial passage includes a first diameter portion having a diameter of at least 125 microns, a second diameter portion having a diameter of at least 250 microns and less than a diameter of a buffer, and a smooth and continuous transition between the first and the second diameter portions. The second diameter portion is positioned between the first diameter portion and the second end. The axial passage further defines a tapered shape at the second end extending inward from the second end toward the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, another smooth and continuous transition can be provided between the taper shape and the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, the axial passage is smooth and continuous between the first and the second ends of the body. A hub holds the ferrule. A method of assembling a terminated fiber optic cable is also provided.

The exit trough includes an exit trough portion extending from the bracket portion upwardly away from the lateral trough section. The exit trough portion includes a convexly curved bottom trough surface, and two convexly curved upstanding sides. The exit trough portion and the lead-ins define a cable pathway from the lateral trough section to an exit point of the exit trough portion which can either lead downwardly relative to the lateral trough section, or horizontally.

In certain embodiments, a system includes a module; an adapter block that includes multiple front ports and multiple rear ports configured to receive an optical connector; a managing entity configured to control port identification for the front and rear ports; and a circuit board mounted to the adapter block, wherein the circuit board comprises multiple front contact assemblies and multiple rear contact assemblies, wherein each front port is associated with a front contact assembly and each rear port is associated with a rear contact assembly, wherein when a rear contact assembly is electrically coupled to a connector, the connector generates an event that is sent to the managing entity, whereupon the managing entity remaps the port identification for the front and rear ports.
