    • The present invention provides an electronic device package that can be fabricated using standard package fabrication technologies while providing a desired level of thermal transfer capability to an attachable thermal management system. The electronic device package according to the present invention comprises a housing that is specifically designed to couple with an evaporator portion of a thermal management system, for example a heat pipe. One or more electronic devices are mounted in thermal contact with the evaporator portion of the thermal management system. Upon completion of the fabrication of the package using standard techniques, the evaporator portion of the electronic device package is operatively coupled with a secondary portion of the thermal management system. In this manner the electronic device package can be fabricated to incorporate a desired thermal management system, while being fabricated using standard package fabrication processes and machinery.

    • The invention provides an insulated wire having a conductor and an insulator of paste extruded PTFE fine powder around the conductor. The paste extruded insulator has at least one closed continuous longitudinal air channel spaced apart from the conductor. The invention further provides a process for forming an insulator around a conductor by paste extruding lubricated PTFE fine powder in an extrusion device comprising a die, mandrel, and at least one channel-forming member. The die and mandrel form a converging chamber leading to an extrusion orifice and the channel-forming member is positioned in the orifice. The mandrel has a central bore for supplying the conductor. Lubricated PTFE fine powder is forced through the chamber and out of the exit of the orifice as a lubricated green extrudate around the conductor forming an insulator with at least one closed longitudinal air channel spaced apart from the conductor.

    • A cable assembly includes a plurality of insulated wires that are arranged in groups of one or more wires with adjacent pairs of the groups being interconnected at any given longitudinal location over the length of the cable. Therefore, the cable defines spaced attachment zones and unattached zones for the groups of wires along the length of the cable with each of the attachment zones including the interconnection of only a single pair of the groups of wires, successive attachment zones being spaced by a respective unattached zone and successive attachment zones interconnecting alternating pairs of the groups of wires. All of the wires are preferably encased in a flexible jacket having a substantially circular cross-section. With this arrangement, the wires extend for the length of the cable without skew and yet the overall cable is extremely flexible.
