    • In a two-carrier type image scanner, a first carrier (10) is moved in parallel to a document surface at a scanning speed and a second carrier (20) is moved at half the scanning speed, the image scanner optically reading out image information such as figures and characters on the document surface using an optical system mounted on the two carriers. To permit the adjustment of the carrier in the roll direction to be easily conducted, one side of each of the carriers (10, 20) is movably engaged with a fixed guide shaft (46), and the other side is guided by a bearing (53) which rolls on a fixed guide rail (47) disposed in parallel with the guide shaft (46), wherein the carrier is capable of being adjusted in the roll direction with respect to the guide shaft (46) when a position of the bearing (53) with respect to the carrier is adjusted.

    • In a sequence controller, a sequence program store device includes an instruction store unit for writing a specific instruction dedicated to the sequential control and a plurality of latch circuits respectively associated with the outputs from an output unit. The latch circuits are controlled by a signal from a processing device which periodically calls and processes the program from the store device and executes a specific output processing when external input signals satisfy a logical state set by the program; the latch circuits, if a transition condition of the program is satisfied when the specific instruction is processed, retain an output state of the output unit until the next transition condition is satisfied, and release the state retaining the output state before the next transition condition is satisfied.

    • A wheel-slip detection system and/or method for implementing self-readhesion or resticking viscous sticking phenomenon after all the wheels of a car have assumed a slipping condition. The detected data are self-retained until all of the wheel speed differences .DELTA.V become smaller than the first speed value .DELTA..alpha.2 regardless of the restoration of all wheel acceleration by the brake release application. Through this method, it is possible to prevent repeated occurrence of any simultaneous gentle or sluggish-slip state of all the wheels when self-readhesion application is not expected so that the increase of brake distance is avoided.
