    • The invention relates to a residual-current circuit breaker for an X-ray device. In one embodiment, the residual-current circuit breaker comprises at least one input, via which a detector identification signal of a detector identification element can be received, said signal characterizing the presence of an X-ray detector and at least one input, via which a selection signal for an exposure measurement element can be received, said signal characterizing the activation of an exposure measurement element. A deactivation signal can be issued via at least one output of the residual-current breaker, the deactivation signal being generated as long as a detector identification signal and a selection signal that is assigned to the same detector as the detector identification signal are not received at the same time.

    • The present invention provides a radiosurgery and/or radiotherapy x-ray system including a collision avoidance subsystem for detecting and avoiding obstacles during treatment. The system includes an x-ray source having an emission head at a distal end of an articulated arm assembly extending from a base unit, with the head being adapted for selectively emitting an x-ray beam along a beam axis, and including an associated controller for selectively orienting the head whereby the beam extends along a succession of treatment axes. The system further includes a collision avoidance subsystem including means for preventing the head and arm assembly from effecting a collision with an object in one or more pre-computed exclusion zones.

    • An x-ray examination apparatus comprises an x-ray source and an x-ray detector. The x-ray detector includes a photoconductor to derive electric charges from incident x-radiation and read-out elements which derive electrical pixel-signals from the electric charges from the photoconductor. A central group of the read-out elements is located in a central region of the x-ray detector and a peripheral group of the read-out elements is located in a peripheral region which surrounds the central region. The x-ray examination apparatus being provided with a selection system to select the central group of read-out elements so as to supply pixel-signals from the central group of read-elements to the output circuit. The selection system may include an encompassing electrode to drain electric charges from the peripheral group. Or the selection system shields the peripheral group from x-rays.

    • Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a proximity detector having a simple configuration and an imaging system including the proximity detector. In an embodiment, a proximity detector mainly comprises: a single electrode mounted on a subject-side end of a movable member; a current feeding device for feeding a constant current to an electrostatic capacitor formed between the electrode and a ground; a discharging device for releasing charge from the electrostatic capacitor at intervals of a certain cycle; a binary-coding device for binary-coding the potential at the electrode relative to a ground based on a threshold; and a smoothing device for smoothing an output signal of the binary-coding device.
