摘要： A device is provided for use with a wireless local area network communication device and with a video display. The device includes a receiver, an image decoder, an emergency alert system (EAS) decoder, an output port, a warning generator and a LAN transceiver. The receiver receives input data including image data and EAS data. The image decoder decodes the image data into image display data. The EAS decoder decodes the EAS data into emergency alert data. The output port outputs the image display data to the video display to display a video image. The warning generator generates a warning signal based on the emergency alert data. The LAN tranceiver transmits a warning transmission to the wireless local area network communication device over a local area network so as to modify operation of the wireless local area network communication device, wherein the warning transmission is based on the warning signal.

A multimedia device delivering video services to one or more users may monitor channel and content requests received by the individual one or more users, and the multimedia device may create a profile for each of the users, wherein the profile includes a channel list of only those channels that are frequently tuned to by the respective user. The multimedia device may create an association between a user, a frequently viewed channel, and a time at which the channel is typically viewed by the user. A profile based viewing session or feature may be enabled at the multimedia device, wherein tuning decisions, channel change responses, and program information displays are controlled by the multimedia device based on a profile associated with a selected user.

摘要： An apparatus, system, method, and computer-readable recording medium monitor and detect connection issues in a wireless network. The wireless network communicatively interconnects a gateway device including a network controller, wireless extenders, and client devices. The gateway device receives probe requests from the client devices and the wireless extenders, and the network controller periodically monitors at least one of: i) frame parameters or ii) signal strength information based on the probe requests, and identifies a connection issue with respect to at least one of the wireless extenders. The gateway device transmits a report or alert regarding the connection issue to at least one client device, and the report or alert is used to prompt re-installation of the wireless extender having the connection issue.

A controller is configured to establish a wireless streaming session between one or more access points and one or more client devices. A self-learning algorithm is executed to collect usage data of the client device and store the usage to create a usage history profile for the client device. The controller provides instruction to steer the client device to one of the access points based on the usage history profile of the client. Preferably, the content streaming apparatus is a home network controller. From the software/client end a steering app is downloadable to the client device for executing software associated with the self-learning algorithm.

A transport stream carrying media associated with a current context of an interactive guide application may be supplemented with one or more secondary streams that are associated with other contexts of the interactive guide application that are likely to be requested from subsequent user interactions. The other contexts of the interactive guide may be determined based upon a correlation between the other contexts and the current context of the interactive guide. When a user interaction occurs at a multimedia device, the multimedia device may retrieve a media stream associated with the user interaction from a transport stream that is currently being received by the multimedia device, from a buffer at the multimedia device, or from local storage associated with the multimedia device.
