摘要： Methods for making multifunctional nanomaterial-containing composites that include the incorporation of nanomaterials into such composites in at least one of two manners: 1) in a solution of dispersed nanomaterials for coating onto a substrate; and 2) by dispersing nanomaterials in a matrix material, such as epoxy, applied to a single substrate layer or sandwiched between adjacent layers in a multiple layer composite. According to such methods, a high loading of nanomaterials may be incorporated into the composites without any deterioration in processing or handling properties.

摘要： A process for forming a unidirectionally oriented fiber structure formed of high tenacity fibers. A plurality of yarns of high tenacity fibers are supplied, with the yarns being unidirectionally oriented. The yarns are coated with a liquid having a viscosity of about 5 to about 600 centipoises and tension is applied to the yarns. The yarns are passed through a fiber spreading device and the yarns are dried. The yarns are reduced in thickness and increased in width after passing through the fiber spreading device, with the fibers forming the yarns being spread apart, thus providing a relatively thin unidirectionally oriented fiber structure.

摘要： The present invention provides in one aspect for a method for controlling odor associated with spills of organic material which can cause odors on carpets. The method comprises applying to the carpet a preparation of dormant bacteria, which when activated are effective to control odors. The dormant bacterial preparation is allowed to become associated with the carpet, such that when the carpet is exposed to organic material which can cause odors, the bacteria are capable of becoming active and digesting the organic material. The formulation may contain other agents such as odor neutralizing or masking agents, enzymes, foaming or anti-foaming agents.

摘要： The invention relates to a latex that may be utilized as a binder for nonwoven applications to form a permeable sublayer of personal hygiene articles. The latex is prepared by a process including the steps of (1) polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising styrene, itaconic acid, surfactant and water soluble free radical initiator to form a seed; (2) sequentially adding equal increments of a monomer mixture of styrene, butadiene and acrylic acid to the seed under emulsion polymerization conditions to form a styrene-butadiene-acrylic acid copolymer; and then (3) neutralizing the styrene-butadiene-acrylic acid copolymer to a pH of about 4.5 to 7 to form the latex.

摘要： An aqueous dispersion has an addition polymer (B) formed in situ on a sulfopolyester (A). The sulfopolyester (A) is formed as a polycondensation product of first and second reaction mixtures. The first reaction mixture includes at least about 70 mol. % of terephthalic acid or an ester thereof, and about 4-20 mol. % of a difunctional ester forming sulfomonomer containing at least one metal sulfonate group attached to an aromatic nucleus, wherein the functional groups are selected from the group consisting of hydroxyls, carboxyls and alkyl esters. The second reaction mixture includes at least two different glycols, at least about 20 mol. % of the second reaction mixture being ethylene glycol. The addition polymer (B) is formed in situ on the sulfopolyester (B) by polymerizing styrene monomer.
