摘要： A system and method are described. The system utilizes data entry devices commonly found in some workplaces, such as warehouses, to generate an emergency signal. The emergency signal is used to generate an emergency response. In one embodiment, an emergency sign with a printed emergency symbol may be scanned using a network-connected barcode scanner to generate the emergency signal. In another embodiment, a user may utter an emergency speech input into a network-connected speech recognition device to generate the emergency signal. The system and method may expand and improve safety in a workplace by offering a more convenient way to summon help.

摘要： Some embodiments are directed to a lockdown apparatus for facilitating initiation of lockdown procedures at a facility. The lockdown apparatus can include a manually operated actuator disposed at the facility and configured to transmit a lockdown initiation signal upon being manually actuated. The actuator can be configured to be recognizably distinguishable from a fire alarm actuator. The lockdown apparatus can also include a lockdown communicator configured to produce a lockdown communication for communicating initiation of lockdown procedures to the facility occupants and individuals not disposed proximate the facility upon transmission of the lockdown initiation signal, the lockdown communication being recognizably distinguishable from the fire alarm communication. The lockdown communicator can include an annunciator that communicates an audible annunciation to facility occupants upon transmission of the lockdown initiation signal, and that ceases to communicate the audible annunciation subsequent to a predetermined number of alarm cycles.

The electronic traffic device also includes at least one security camera electronically connected to a local police station in order to provide to police a camera surveillance of events occurring in the area of the security camera; electronic signs to provide weather information, traffic information, and parking information; a public phone that can be used by the public to call for assistance in an emergency; an alarm button connected to the local police and fire department, so that a person in the area can press the alarm and send a signal to the local police or fire department; a street lamp for providing light to the area which is connected to a power source on the traffic device, which may include either a battery pack or solar panel for providing power to the electronic devices on the tower; and a charging device for cell phones and other devices for the public in the area to use.

The system may include a processor; an interface to communicate with a first device and a second device; and a memory to store first and second gas exposure identifiers and first and second location identifiers received from the first and second devices, respectively. The system may be operable to transmit alert information to the second device when the second device is in the work zone and the concentration of gas detected by the first device in the work zone is above the set amount.

A plurality of smart parking devices that are each physically proximate to and which correspond to at least one of the parking spaces is interfaced with the server. Further, a plurality of vehicle occupancy sensors that are also each physically proximate to and which correspond to at least one of the parking spaces is interfaced with the server. Use of the parking spaces are managed. Occupancy of each of the parking spaces by a motor vehicle is sensed through the nearest vehicle occupancy sensor. Use of the parking space is processed based on an identity of a driver of the motor vehicle through the nearest smart parking device. Emergency services for an individual are notified through one of the smart parking devices upon request.

摘要： The invention relates to a fire alarm system in which the fire alarm is located in an enclosure which must be entered by the operator of the fire alarm, and the door to the enclosure, or opening through which the operator passes, must be closed in order to initiate the actuation of the fire alarm. The fire alarm within the enclosure has a fire alarm switch located to be covered by a door or plate which must be moved in order to have access to the fire alarm switch. Circuits are provided which upon the closing of the door cause a circuit to be energized while the movement of the cover for the alarm switch allows the alarm switch lever to be moved only if the operator is located in the enclosure containing the fire alarm. The alarm switch actuates a door lock and a timing device which will hold the operator within the enclosure for a given length of time sufficient for the firemen to reach the scene of the alarm.
