摘要： A process and an apparatus for coating glass by means of a method using at least one or more liquid raw materials which react essentially on at least a portion of the glass substrate forming a coating on it. At least part of the liquid raw materials is atomized to droplets with one or more two-fluid atomizer and at least a fraction of the gas used in the one or more two-fluid atomizers is electrically charged such that at least a fraction of the droplets become electrically charged during or after the atomization. According to the invention the droplets are formed into a separately created electric field.

摘要： A rotary atomizer has an internal power supply in the atomizer housing about which is passed cooling air. The air then flows out of the atomizer housing in a twisting direction as vectored air in the same direction of rotation as the atomizer head to eliminate any vacuum condition around the atomizer head and to provide shaping control of the coating being sprayed. A portion of the exhaust air from an air turbine motor driving the atomizer head with a turbine shaft is directed through a passageway between a stationary fluid tube within the turbine shaft and the rotary shaft to direct the exhaust air into the atomizer head to mix with the coating and create an air barrier that prevents coating material from leaking back into the rotary atomizer device. The remaining portion of the exhaust air from the air turbine motor is channeled around the outside surface of the housing of the rotary atomizer device to prevent liquid coating material from wrapping back and attaching to the atomizer housing.

摘要： Apparatus having a substrate having a planar conductive plating located on a first surface of a dielectric layer and having a conductive trace (a collection trace) located on a second surface of the dielectric layer such that the conducting plating and the conductive trace have a parallel, spaced-apart relation. The conductive trace is charged by supplying a voltage to the plating and the trace to establish a voltage differential across the dielectric layer. As such, depending upon the magnitude of the voltage, polarity of the voltage and the duration for which the voltage is applied to the trace, a certain quantity and polarity of charge accumulates on the trace. The material to be deposited is charged to an opposite polarity than that of the trace and then the deposition material is applied to the trace. Consequently, the substrate electrostatically retains the deposition material on the collection trace.

摘要： A method of electrostatically painting and an apparatus for producing an electric field within a booth includes a paint spray gun charged to a first potential and a target to be painted to a second potential with one of the panels in the booth charged to a third potential intermediate the first potential and the second potential to repel paint particles away from the panel. The paint particles and the panels are charged to the same polarity and the target is of the opposite polarity. The panel is usually a wall, a ceiling and/or a conveyor protection housing within the paint spray booth. The preferred panel comprises an outer insulating layer of plastic, glass or porcelain that is easily wiped of paint and an interior, electrically-conducting layer such as a thin sheet of aluminum. Variations of the panel include a version which is completely enclosed in plastic and a version which is bonded to plastic.

摘要： A device for rapidly discharging without arcing a high-tension DC voltage source includes a cylinder of an insulative material in which slide two electrode pistons. These are equipped with internal auxiliary pistons which carry needles which can be deployed so as to project beyond the domed ends of the electrode pistons. The electrode pistons are connected to the terminals of the high-tension voltage source. When compressed air is fed into the central part of the cylinder, the electrode pistons and the auxiliary pistons are driven towards the ends of the cylinder. The rounded domes and the increased pressure of the air provide a high degree of insulation. Once the high-tension DC voltage source has been switched off, the center of the cylinder is vented to atmosphere. The auxiliary pistons are driven towards one another by springs, entraining the electrode pistons and deploying the needles. A corona discharge is established and this discharges the capacitance of the source before the needles come into contact with one another.
