By using a feedback circuit to obtain the desired improvement in linearity, the gain of the feedback loop can be tailored to obtain the necessary impedance range and output swing in a circuit capable of operating at relatively low power supply voltages.

The substrate further comprises of at least one hole provided through the dielectric substrate. Thus, the cooling effect of the resistance film has been improved while keeping the low manufacturing cost and stable structure, by fixing the dielectric substrate on a metallic board by screws inserted in the mentioned holes.

摘要： A combined potentiometer and amplifier circuitry contains a gain controlled amplifier having its gain control input connected to a potentiometer circuit via a subtraction network. The potentiometer circuit is provided with two slidable tapping elements linked to separate actuating members and with a movable frame which limits the relative maximum distance the two actuating members can have at the same time. Thereby the dynamic range of the potentiometer output and thus of the gain controlled amplifier can be adjusted. Furthermore, a DC offset signal is derived from the output signals of the potentiometer and is combined with the output signal of the gain controlled amplifier to obtain a composed output signal the waveform whereof has a constant rise time and is not distorted relative to the waveform at the input of the gain controlled amplifier.

摘要： A high frequency attenuator is provided having flat characteristics from direct current to frequencies of the order of 4 GHz and having attenuation adjustable in steps. This is accomplished by securing a plurality of thick film resistive unit pads around a central rotary hub, each pad consisting of a ceramic substrate rectangular in configuration with a fired thick film shunt resistive element supported on the substrate on one face thereof, a pair of fired silver strips also on the face of the substrate contacting the shunt resistive element, a coating of fired silver material completely covering the reverse face of the substrate except for that portion directly opposite the shunt resistive element, and fired silver layers on the edges of the substrates with the inner edges grounded to the central hub. The hub is rotatably mounted in an outer cylindrical housing composed of conductive material. Exposed flexible electrical conductor means surround the resistive units, providing ground connections between the outer conductive edges of the substrates and the outer housing. There is a plurality of fixed terminals on the rotor and a plurality of coaxial transitions are connected between the ends of the silver strip layers and fixed terminals mounted on the rotor. Each fixed rotor terminal is adapted to engage a fixed blade attached to the central conductor of a coaxial connector as the rotor is rotated to select a given attenuator pad.

摘要： A continuously variable resistive film attenuator (often called ''''card attenuator'''' is provided, having distributed shunt and series film portions for use from D.C. above 8 GHz. It has a low minimum loss. It stays matched over its entire range. In one version it has substantially no incremental phase shift with changing attenuation. The resistive film is enclosed inside a slidable conductive sleeve which is moved to expose only that part of the attenuator which is inserted into the circuit, the unused part thus being in a field-free region where it can have no effect, while the inserted part of the shunt film is connected to ground through a continuous ground contact which is pressed down on the edge of the shunt portion by a multiple finger spring arrangement. In one version, the electrical length between input and output is maintained constant by shortening a conductive portion of the attenuator as the resistive portion is lengthened so that there is no phase shift between input and output as the attenuation is varied.
