摘要： Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for improving transaction success rates for voice reminder applications in e-commerce. In one embodiment of the invention, the voice reminder applications in e-commerce utilizes a network-based text-to-speech (TTS) alert system, which can generate a purchase reminder associated with a recipient's potential purchase. The network-based text-to-speech (TTS) alert system can also deliver the purchase reminder to a recipient's voicemail and leave a transaction identifier number and a centralized or a recipient-specific call-back phone number to the recipient's voicemail. A recipient can utilize the transaction identifier number, the centralized or the recipient-specific call-back phone number, and optionally a recipient-specific password to make a phone call to retrieve the purchase reminder previously delivered to the recipient's voicemail by the network-based text-to-speech (TTS) alert system. Then, the recipient can authorize and/or complete a transaction related to the purchase reminder over the same phone call.

摘要： The present invention provides methods and apparatus that utilize a portable apparatus to operate a host computer. The portable apparatus including an operating system and a list of software applications is installed in a removable data storage medium. The basic input/output system (BIOS) of the host computer will directly or indirectly identify the portable apparatus as its boot drive. The host computer will further load the operating system in the portable apparatus into its random access semiconductor memory (RAM). A hardware profile is stored in the host computer, which contains information about the host computer and its peripheral devices. During the loading, the operating system will incorporate information in the hardware profile in order to fully operate the host computer and the hardware devices defined in the profile.

摘要： One or more novel processes for producing hydrogen, oxygen, and in some cases, distilled and cleaned water from a contaminated effluent, are disclosed. In one example of utilizing this novel process, the water from contaminated effluent is transferred into a draw solution using an entrochemical system through a vapor-mediated membrane-free forward osmosis process. The process is enabled by the generation of a wet vacuum in one or more entrochemical cells incorporated into the entrochemical system. This process generates a diluted draw solution that can be utilized as an abundant water feedstock in an electrolyzer for electrolysis, which in turn generates hydrogen and oxygen. In some embodiments, an entrochemical distiller may also be utilized to distill a portion of the contaminated effluent for clean water as a result of thermal transfers during the vapor-mediated membrane-free forward osmosis process.

In one embodiment of the invention, a novel phantom-powered FET preamplifier gain circuit can minimize undesirable sound distortions and reduce the cost of producing a conventional preamplifier gain circuit. Moreover, in one embodiment of the invention, one or more novel rounded-edge magnets may be placed close to a ribbon of a ribbon microphone, wherein the one or more novel rounded-edge magnets reduce or minimize reflected sound wave interferences with the vibration of the ribbon during an operation of the ribbon microphone. Furthermore, in one embodiment of the invention, a novel backwave chamber operatively connected to a backside of the ribbon can minimize acoustic pressure, anomalies in frequency responses, and undesirable phase cancellation and doubling effects.
