    • The present invention is an apparatus comprising a bobby pin holder, a bobby pin opening mechanism, and an adjustable bracelet made out of a durable material such as a leather strap that wraps around the user's wrist and is secured in place. The most preferred embodiments of the present invention include a bobby pin opening mechanism that has a pair of wedge shaped edges that can be used to open bobby pins by pressing the legs of the bobby pin against one of the wedge shaped edges, thereby forcing the legs of the bobby pin apart and opening the bobby pin for use by a hair dresser or hair stylist. Additionally, one or more ridges formed in the body of the bobby pin opening mechanism may be used to hold the bobby pin opened and ready for use.

    • The most preferred embodiments of the present invention are configured to allow a foreign language interpreter to remotely monitor, control, and interpret various legal proceedings for one or more remote locations, such as courtrooms. The interpreter will use a computer-based system to monitor and control the audio-video functions and communications that take place in one or more remote locations and to pass audio and/or video signals to and from the interpreter and the remote locations, including the people in the remote location that need interpretation services. This system allows the interpreter to monitor facial characteristics of the speakers, route the audio to isolated headsets when interpreting into the foreign language, route the audio to sound reinforcement speakers when interpreting from the foreign language, and interpret a “private” conversation between multiple parties speaking different languages. The various unique features and configurations provided by the various preferred embodiments of the present invention allow for the implementation of a comprehensive Distance Court Interpretation (DCI) system.

    • Disclosed herein is an electrostatic fluid filtration system suitable for removing sub micron insoluble contaminants known to cause varnish from fluids such as dielectric fluids. The electrostatic fluid filtration system is configured to remove both water and other contaminants from a target fluid (e.g. a dielectric fluid) and comprises a cabinet, a computer control unit, and one or more substantially cylindrical filtration units, including at least one of a water filtration unit and an electrostatic contaminant filtration unit. In the contaminant filtration unit, the target fluid flows radially through the filtration media that is positioned between the electrode plates in a generally horizontal flow pattern. This forces the target fluid to traverse multiple energy fields in a serpentine fashion and in a single pass through the contaminant filtration unit. After flowing through each layer of the filtration media, the target fluid is discharged from the electrostatic contaminant filtration unit.
