摘要： An electronic device may have control circuitry coupled to input-output devices such as a display. A flexible input-output device may be formed from an elastomeric substrate layer. The substrate layer may have signal paths to which components are mounted. Openings may be formed in the elastomeric substrate layer between the signal paths to create a stretchable mesh-shaped substrate. The electrical components may each include an interposer having solder pads soldered to the elastomeric substrate. Electrical devices such as micro-light-emitting diodes may be soldered to the interposers. The electrical components may also include electrical devices such as sensors and actuators. A stretchable lighting unit may have a stretchable light guide illuminated by a stretchable light source.

摘要： A display calibration system may be used to calibrate a display. The display calibration system may have an image sensor that captures images of the display. An electrically controllable tunable filter such as an electrically tunable liquid crystal birefringence cell filter may be used to produce various wavelength-dependent filter characteristics in accordance with a variety of different filter settings. Control circuitry in the display calibration system may be used to adjust the filter to implement one or more color matching functions or to produce other desired filter characteristics for the display calibration system. The image sensor may measure light emitted from the display while the control circuitry is adjusting the filter. The control circuitry may then process the measured light to produce calibration data for the display. The calibration data may be loaded into the display by the control circuitry to calibrate the display.

The opaque masking layer may be formed a glass layer in the display, in part of a polarizer in a display, under a planarization layer, or between other layers in the display.

摘要： An electronic device may be provided that has a display. The display may produce light using a backlight unit or using an array of light-emitting display pixels. An ambient light sensor may be mounted under an active area of the display to measure ambient light that is transmitted through the display. The display may be periodically disabled to prevent the display from producing light that interferes with the ambient light sensor. Display pixels may be coupled to a common cathode switch that can be periodically opened or the backlight in a display with a backlight can be periodically turned off. Control circuitry for periodically disabling the display while enabling the ambient light sensor may be implemented using a display driver integrated circuit mounted to a display.

Electrical components may be mounted on flexible printed circuit substrates. A substrate may be encapsulated by elastomeric polymer material or other material forming the band. The elastomeric polymer material may form cavities that receive the electrical components. Components such as light-emitting diodes may be mounted to the flexible printed circuit substrates so that the light-emitting diodes are located in the cavities. Reflective sidewalls in the cavities may reflect light from the light-emitting diodes outwardly through a thinned portion of the band. Light-diffusing material in the cavities may be formed from clear polymer with light-scattering particles.

In an embodiment, a display structure includes a vertically oriented micro LED mounted on a display substrate, in which the micro LED includes a p-n diode with top and bottom electrode sides, and a sidewall gate electrode spanning a sidewall of the p-n diode where the active layer is included. A flexible substrate such as a flexible mesh substrate with component support regions coupled by flexible segments may be wrapped around the housing and the vertical axis. A fabric spacer layer may be interposed between the flexible substrate and the housing. Electrical components such as input-output devices may be mounted to the component support regions. A display may be formed from an array of light-emitting devices that are mounted on respective component support regions. Light from the light-emitting devices may pass through the fabric spacer layer toward the housing and back out away from the housing. An outer fabric layer may cover the mesh.

摘要： An electronic device may be provided with a display having a thin-film transistor layer. One or more holes in the thin-film transistor layer may be used to form pathways from display circuitry to other circuitry underneath the display. One or more conductive bridges may pass through holes in the thin-film transistor layer and may have one end that couples to the display circuitry and a second end that couples to a printed circuit underneath the display. These conductive bridges may be formed from wire bonding. Wire bond connections may be encapsulated with potting material to improve the reliability of the wire bond and increase the resiliency of the display. Display signal lines may be routed through holes in a thin-film transistor layer to run along a backside of the display thereby reducing the need for space in the border region for display circuitry.
