    • A method for gamifying a toll image review process includes receiving an image of a vehicle that has utilized a toll road and identifying a region of interest of the image depicting an identifier of the vehicle. A second image is generated that includes the region of interest and is preprocessed to generate a plurality of images of the region of interest. Each of the images includes unique display settings. The images are displayed within a graphical user interface along with progress information for a first user,. The progress information is related to an amount of vehicles to identify. Progress information is displayed for additional users. An input including the identifier is received using the user interface. Images related to an image of a second vehicle's region of interest are displayed. A progress of the additional users is monitored and then the displayed progress information is updated.

    • A method for detecting fraudulent use of a payment media using a transit server includes receiving, at a transit server, an input from a payment media as part of a payment transaction at a first transit fare vending machine. The input includes an account identifier associated with a payment account of the payment media. Authentication information is received and an authentication request is communicated to an issuer of the payment account. The authentication request includes the account identifier. Information indicative of improper use of the payment media is received from one or more of a second transit fare vending machine or the issuer of the payment account. A determination is made, based on the information, that the payment media is being used improperly. An improper use alert is communicated to an enforcement authority. The improper use alert includes identification information related to the payment transaction.

    • A handheld transit fare device is provided. The transit fare device includes an NFC interface configured to send and receive data, a memory, and a processor. The processor is configured to receive, via the interface, a list of transactions from a host device using standard smart card protocol commands and reply structures. The list of transactions includes identifiers of fare access media used to gain access to a transit vehicle. The processor is configured to store the list of transactions on the memory and to provide a first indication that the list of transactions has been received. The processor is configured to receive, via the interface, an identifier from a fare access media on the transit vehicle, determine whether the identifier from the fare access media matches one of the identifiers from the list of transactions, and provide a second indication that provides a result of the determination.
