摘要： Methods of making a composition are disclosed, which comprises: i) forming a dispersion of particles comprising: a) silica, b) a non-volatile cation, and c) water, wherein the non-volatile cation is not ammonium; ii) adding at least one organosilyl coupling agent of formula R1-(R2-O)3-Si where R1 is selected from the group consisting of a substituted alkyl and unsubstituted alkyl, and R2 is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl, wherein the substituted alkyl of R1 is not aminoalkyl; iii) reacting the organosilyl coupling agent with the dispersion of particles to form a mixture comprising a silsesquioxane and an alcohol; and iv) removing the alcohol from the mixture by vacuum distillation, wherein final concentration of the alcohol is about 1% by weight or less of the total mixture. Further disclosed are compositions comprising an aqueous dispersion comprising silsesquioxane, a non-volatile cation and an alcohol, and methods of using the composition.

摘要： The Improved Sock is made of yarns knitted into a foot and calf, with graduated compression on an individual's foot from the foot to the calf. The yarns can include wool and alpaca fibers. A substantial proportion of wool and/or alpaca are on the inside of the sock so as to be in direct contact with the skin and wound. The Improved Sock provides absorption and wicking of inflammatory mediators, bacteria and biofilm and necrotic exudate from the foot and leg. The Improved Sock has AgNP shapes electrostatically bonded to the yarn. At least 30% of the mass of the AgNP shapes attached to the fibers have a shape selected from the group consisting of truncated triangular plates (a triangle with the corners rounded off), triangular prisms, discs and combinations of two or more of them. The Improved Sock functions as a unique wound dressing with the sock in direct contact with the wound.

摘要： A knitted spacer fabric has a tightly knitted bottom layer, a more loosely knitted upper layer and linking fibres extending across the space between the lower and upper faces. Settable material, e.g. cement, is introduced into the space between the upper and lower faces and can be caused to set by the addition of a liquid, e.g. water. Until set, the fabric is flexible and can be shaped but after the material in space has set, the fabric is rigid and can be used as a structural element in a wide range of situations. The bottom layer has an extension that extends beyond the upper face and is connected to the upper face by elastic connecting fibres that draw the extension towards the other face, thereby at least partly closing the space at the edge of the cloth and preventing the settable material from spilling out. In addition, the packing of the settable material and maximum space between the faces are such that only a predetermined amount of liquid can be accommodated within the space and that amount is matched to the water required to set the cement.
