    • An imaging tube coolant volume control system (14) for an imaging tube (18) includes a compensation tank (80) that is configured to fluidically couple an imaging tube cooling circuit (11). The compensation tank (80) includes a cooling fluid (17) and a compensation-dividing member (100). The member (100) is adjustable in response to the change in volume of the cooling fluid (17). An overflow vessel (82) is fluidically coupled to the compensation tank (80). A compensation valve (86) is coupled between the compensation tank (80) and the overflow vessel (82) and allows flow of the cooling fluid between the compensation tank (80) and the overflow vessel (82) when pressure of the cooling fluid (17) is greater than or equal to a first predetermined pressure level.

    • A single-axis sun sensor consists of a cylinder of an insulating material on which at least one pair of detectors is deposited on a circumference of the cylinder. At any time only one-half of the cylinder is illuminated so that the total resistance of the two detectors is a constant. Due to the round surface on which the detectors are deposited, the sensor exhibits a linear wide angle of + OR - 50* to within an accuracy of about 2%. By depositing several pairs of detectors on adjacent circumferences sufficient redundancy is realized to provide high reliability. A two-axis sensor is provided by depositing detectors on the surface of a sphere along at least two orthogonal great circles thereof.

    • An image sensor array of photodetector elements, with two phototransistors at each element. Each phototransistor has emitter, base, and collector regions, with PN junctions between the regions serving as photodetectors which integrate incident light flux. The inherent capacitance of the emitter-base junction of one phototransistor is substantially greater than the inherent capacitance of the other junctions, to provide capacitance for charge storage during the period between incident light and sampling. The emitter-base junction of the second phototransistor serves as a switch when the element is sampled, to provide an electrical output representative of the integrated light. The video output may be derived from the collector regions or from either of the emitter regions.
