    • A method for providing a mobile station, being connected to a wireless communication system, with GPS assistance data, comprises obtaining (210) of correction data of a satellite based augmentation system. The method further comprises obtaining (220) of assistance data of an assisted global positioning system. Modified values of standard parameters of either assistance data of the assisted global positioning system or correction data of differential global positioning system, or both, are determined (230) from the correction data of the satellite based augmentation system in dependence on the assistance data of the assisted global positioning system. The modified values of the standard parameters are transmitted (240) from the core network to the mobile station. A node implementing the method and a system comprising such a node are also presented.

At least when said set (1001) of pseudorange vectors includes plural vectors, said selecting includes evaluating each vector in said set (1001) of pseudorange vectors according to a predetermined rule.

    • In a cellular communications network, additional control signals comprising virtual base station identification data are distributed in the radio system from well defined locations by e.g. transmitters. Since there is a connection between each virtual base station identification data and the location from where it is transmitted, a mobile terminal can use the information for improving its position estimation according to conventional procedures. No modifications of the mobile terminals are therefore necessary. The mobile terminal is not able to connect to the communications system using the virtual base station identification data, since this data only is intended for position estimating purposes. In such a way, the devices for providing the additional information necessary for the improved position estimation can be made very simple and inexpensive.

    • A mobile communication station in a wireless communication network is used to measure the respective times of arrival of radio signals respectively transmitted by a plurality of radio transmitters in the network. The mobile communication station is provided with real time difference information indicative of differences between a time base used by a radio transmitter serving the mobile communication station and respective time bases used by the other radio transmitters. The mobile communication station determines, in response to the real time difference information and relative to the time base used by the radio transmitter serving the mobile communication station, a plurality of points in time at which the respective radio signals are expected to arrive at the mobile communication station. For each radio signal, the mobile communication station monitors for arrival of the radio signal during a period of time after the point in time at which the radio signal is expected to arrive.
