摘要： A melt processible multi-phase thermoplastic composition comprising a blend of:(A) 5-95 parts by weight of a crystalline polyolefin resin of a substantially saturated homopolymer or copolymer of polymerized monomer units of C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alpha monoolefins forming one phase of the composition,(B) 5-95 parts by weight of a crosslinked ethylene-containing copolymer forming a second phase of the composition comprising units derived from (1) ethylene, (2) alkyl acrylates or alkyl methacrylates wherein the alkyl group contains 1-6 carbon atoms or vinyl esters of monocarboxylic acids having 2-6 carbon atoms, and (3) glycidyl acrylate or glycidyl methacrylate.

摘要： A process is disclosed for preparing resin extended pigments containing from 10% to 75% and preferably 20% to 50% by weight, based on the amount of pigment and resin present. The crude pigment and resin are comilled, such as in a ball mill, in a manner equivalent to that used to prepare pigmentary grade pigment from crude pigment. Liquids if they are present should not affect the free flowing nature of the mill powder. The resin is a polyolefin or a copolymer of ethylene and up to 25% of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, vinyl acetate, or oxidized ethylene units preferably softening at from 80.degree. to 140.degree. C.

摘要： The invention deals with a method and composition(s) for use in inhibiting corrosion of metallic parts in contact with aqueous systems. It has been discovered that protective oxide films can be formed on the metallic surface if such is allowed to contact an aqueous system containing a sufficient amount for the purpose of a polymer composed primarily of acrylic moieties and hydroxylated lower alkyl acrylate moieties and a water-soluble orthophosphate. Optionally but desirably, polyphosphates, organo-phosphonates, and copper corrosion inhibitors may be included.

摘要： Described herein is a pigment paste for use in an aqueous paint comprising a film-forming latex polymer, a pigment and a dispersant copolymer. Also described is the dispersant copolymer which serves the function of dispersing the pigment in the preparation of the paste and maintaining the dispersion in the paste and paint made therefrom. The dispersant copolymer is such that its complex salt formed with Zn++ and ammonia is water-soluble at a pH of 9.6. The dispersant is a copolymer of an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated monovinylidene carboxylic acid and at least one other ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The dispersant is particularly adapted to preparing paste for difficult-to-formulate paints such as paints with reactive pigments and paints requiring high levels of dispersant.

摘要： Protective and decorative coatings for metal are prepared using aqueous polymer compositions consisting essentially of a thermosetting vinyl or acrylic polymer which has been polymerized in the presence of a preformed, crosslinked, elastomeric copolymer. The rate at which the monomers of the thermosetting polymer are added to the reaction mixture is substantially equal to the rate of reaction of these monomers to form the thermosetting polymer. This is believed to result in the formation of minute emulsified particles containing a core of the elastomeric copolymer surrounded by a layer of the thermosetting polymer. The thermosetting polymer contains pendant hydroxyl groups and a latent, heat-activated crosslinking agent.
