摘要： A wet flywheel housing is disclosed wherein a central web member separates the flywheel housing into first and second cavities in which a flywheel and a driven gear set are respectively rotatable. The web member supports a seal engageable with a hubbed gear forming part of the driven gear set and connected with the flywheel to permit the transfer of rotational power therebetween. A detachable lid member closes the second cavity in which the driven gear set is rotated to permit the introduction of an oil bath into the second cavity for lubrication of the driven gear set without permitting the migration of oil to the first cavity for engagement with the rotating flywheel.

摘要： A flywheel device in which a rotating body is rotatably supported within a casing, the rotating body comprising a rotor rotated at a high speed and a flywheel rotated integrally with the rotor to accumulate rotating energies capable of being converted into electric energies at a time of a power failure. A protective ring is provided beween the outer surface of the rotating body and the inner circumferential wall of the casing. Upon the occurrence of an abnormally high speed of the rotating body, the rotor of the rotating body engages the protective ring. The protective ring is free of fixed engagement with the casing so that when engaged by the rotor the weight of the protective ring is added to that of the rotating body to act as a braking force.

摘要： A flywheel slip clutch is provided for use with implements such as agricultural balers. The flywheel slip clutch includes a plate mounted on a hub which is fixed to rotate with the input drive shaft of an implement. The plate is connected to the PTO drive line and clutch of a tractor. A flywheel is rotatably mounted on the hub, and a friction disc is interposed between annular surfaces of the plate and the flywheel. During normal operation, the torque from the tractor PTO drive line and the torque generated by the flywheel are delivered to the input shaft of the implement. In the event of an overload condition on the implement input shaft, the tractor PTO clutch disengages and the flywheel spins out disengaging itself from the friction disc which is connected to the plate. This prevents damage to the implement without utilizing a shearbolt between the flywheel and the hub.

For smaller units, the bearing cooling system is effective to enable a flywheel with a moment of inertia less than 40,000 lb in2 to be accelerated at a rate of 5 rpm/s or greater. For larger units, the bearing cooling system is effective to enable a flywheel with a moment of inertia greater than 40,000 lb in2 to be accelerated at a rate of 2.5 rpm/s or greater.

The journal assembly comprises a sleeve having an aperture extending therethrough from a first end to a second, opposite end, a rod at least partially disposed within the aperture of the sleeve, and a nut coupled to a portion of the rod. The rod has a length greater than the sleeve such that a portion of the rod extends axially beyond the first end of the sleeve. A method of forming the flywheel comprises coupling the rod to the rotor shaft and pulling the second end of the rod to tension the rod. The nut maintains the tension in the rod when coupled thereto.

摘要： A drive assembly for a vehicle drive train includes a base assembly including a base hub configured for non-rotatably connecting to an outer circumferential surface of a transmission input shaft. The base assembly includes a torsional damper fixed to the base hub. The torsional damper includes an input section and an output section drivingly connected by springs. The springs allow relative rotation between the input section and the output section. The output section of the torsional damper is non-rotatably fixed to the base hub. The drive assembly also includes a raw hub extension configured for non-rotatably connecting to an engine crankshaft. The raw hub extension is non-rotatably fixed to the input part of the torsional damper at an engine side of the torsional damper. The torsional damper allows relative rotation between the raw hub extension and the base hub.
