    • A frequency generating circuit comprises a piezoelectric buzzer (18) which is driven by a driving signal having a desired frequency and a desired pulse width; a frequency dividing circuit (1) made up of a multi-stage flip-flop array for frequency dividing a reference frequency signal; logic setting means (3.sub.1 to 3.sub.6, 4) which is responsive to a plurality of externally generated setting signals (C.sub.1 to C.sub.6) to effect a logic setting for obtaining the desired frequency; control means (5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12) for outputting a control signal to reset terminals of the flip-flops on the basis of an output signal of the logic setting means for resetting the frequency dividing circuit to obtain the desired frequency; pulse width setting means (15) coupled to output terminals of at least two predetermined flip-flop stages of the frequency dividing circuit to set the pulse width of a driving signal to the desired pulse width; and driving signal generating means (8, 13, 14, 16) for delivering a driving signal to the piezoelectric buzzer (18) as a function of the control signal of the control means and the output signal of the pulse width setting means, the driving signal having the desired frequency and the desired pulse width.

    • An electronic timepiece having a liquid crystal display device and a buzzer comprised of a piezoelectric element. A voltage booster circuit comprised of a capacitor and a semiconductor switching element boosts the voltage of the voltage supply, and the boosted voltage is applied to drive the liquid crystal display device. A buzzer driving circuit inverts the booster voltage and simultaneously applies the booster voltage and the inverted booster voltage to drive the piezoelectric buzzer element. The operating frequency of the voltage booster is increased when the buzzer is operated and when the booster voltage and inverted booster voltage are applied to energize the piezoelectric buzzer element.

    • A piezoelectric buzzer has a piezoelectric crystal mounted on a circular mounting plate. Supporting struts are integrally formed in the mounting plate by punching strut shaped portions in the plate and bending these portions such that they are substantially perpendicular to the plate. The struts are positioned on the nodal circle of the transducer so that the vibration of the transducer is not substantially impaired by the mounting arrangement. An oscillator circuit is connected to provide a potential between the mounting plate and a first electrode positioned on the surface of the crystal opposite the mounting plate. A second electrode, positioned on the surface of the piezoelectric crystal adjacent the first electrode, provides a feedback signal to the oscillator circuit. The unique buzzer design allows the buzzer components to be assembled by a one-step soldering process.

    • An electronic buzzer comprises an acoustic vibrator comprised of a circular metal plate having its entire periphery rigidly secured to a support, and a piezoelectric element adhered to one face of the metal plate. A driving circuit applies electric driving signals to the vibrator to vibrationally drive it at a 1/N multiple of its natural frequency, where N is an integer, so that the vibrator emits an audible buzzing sound. The metal plate is preferably mounted to undergo vibration in a natural vibration mode having only one nodal circle. The drive circuit includes an inductor connected in a closed loop with the vibrator, which functions as a capacitor, and the circuit applies signals at a selectively variable frequency to the closed loop to accordingly vary the inductance of the inductor to thereby vary the period of oscillation of the acoustic vibrator and the resultant frequency of the buzzing sound.
