摘要： An aqueous polymerization method is disclosed for forming polymers containing, as polymerized units, at least one monomer having low water solubility, including the steps of: (1) complexing at least one monomer having low water solubility with a macromolecular organic compound having a hydrophobic cavity; and (2) polymerizing in an aqueous system from about 0.1% to about 100%, by weight of the monomer component, based on the total weight of the polymer, of the complexed monomer having low water solubility with from about 0% to about 99.9% by weight, based on the total weight of the polymer, of at least one monomer having high water solubility. The method is also useful for forming aqueous solution polymers having low water solubility. The method is useful for polymerizing, in an aqueous system, aqueous solution polymers or emulsion polymers, particularly random copolymers, of monomer having a low water solubility which heretofore could not be made satisfactorily without the addition of an organic solvent, comonomer or a high level of surfactant to aid in solubilizing the monomer having low water solubility. The method is also useful for improving the efficiency of chain transfer agents having low water solubility used in aqueous solution and emulsion polymerizations.

摘要： The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a gel material which is not free-flowing, is reversibly transparent as a function of temperature and comprises nonionic and/or nonionically acting surfactants as clouding components. The preparation of the gel material can be integrated into the customary production process for laminated glazing in a simple manner and produces frost-stable glazing which can be employed universally indoors and outdoors. When applied, the strength of the system is so high that it is no longer free-flowing at all and bulging of the laminated pane and running-out are therefore no longer possible.

摘要： Polytetrafluoroethylene micropowders, which can contain up to about 3% by weight of comonomers, are obtained with a narrow molecular weight distribution, a narrow range of specific surface area and a primary particle size of from 150 to 250 nm by polymerization in aqueous medium using hydrogen, methane or ethane as chain transfer agent and at an availability of free radicals remaining essentially constant over the polymerization time. These micropowders are particularly suitable for preparations of polyacetals which give only small deposits in the molds during melt processing and have increased color stability.

摘要： The present invention provides an efficient aqueous polymerization process for preparing a water soluble polymer product having a molecular weight of less than 30,000. The polymer product is formed from about 3 to about 50 weight percent of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monomer, from about 50 to about 97 weight percent of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid monomer, and from 0 to about 40 weight percent of one or more carboxyl-free monoethylenically unsaturated monomers. The process of the present invention may be run as a batch or continuous process. The process uses at least one chain transfer agent and is conducted at an aqueous solution pH of about 3 or less to keep the molecular weight of the polymer product below 30,000. The polymer product produced by the process of the present invention is useful as an additive in detergents, cleaning formulations, and water circulating systems.
