    • An acoustic apparatus comprises an inner cabinet, a vibrator mounted thereon and an outer cabinet. The inner cabinet and the outer cabinet constitute an acoustic cabinet having a closed cavity. The outer cabinet covers the inner cabinet with a predetermined gap formed between the inner peripheral surface of the outer cabinet and the outer peripheral surface of the inner cabinet and has an opening causing the gap to communicate with the external region of the acoustic cabinet and to function as a resonance port. The resonance port and the closed cavity constitute a resonator. The vibrator is provided so as to face the closed cavity. The resonator radiates a resonant sound from the open end of the gap, i.e., the resonance port, upon being driven by the vibrator.

    • An ultrasound system, employable for medical imaging, includes an electronics module and a probe. The probe includes a body, a transducer, a driver, a window and coupling fluid. The electronics module includes a transmitter which generates transmission pulses which are converted by the transducer to ultrasound pulses and a receiver which analyzes electrical signals resulting from the conversion of ultrasonic reflections received by the transducer. The electronics module controls delays in the transmission and reception between individual elements of the annular phased array transducer to control focussing. The driver provides for mechanical steering of the transducer. The coupling fluid provides for ultrasonic coupling between the transducer and the window and the subject while permitting the steering movement of the transducer. The coupling fluid is a mixture of 1-Butanol in Glycerol. The attenuation of that mixture can be adjusted without impairing velocity matching by adding suitable amounts of 2-Hydroxyethyl ether.

    • Disclosed is an acoustic horn to aid in bulk powdered material handling particularly from trucks and railroad cars. Such acoustic horn is comprised of an external cone having a driver affix thereto. There is also an inverted internal cone contained within the external cone. There is a cylindrical throat communicating with the acoustic wave driver which extends into the internal cone, the combination of the throat extending into the internal cone contained within the external cone creates a folded horn arrangement wherein a horn of relative shortened length can achieve the desired low fundamental frequencies needed for bulk powdered material handling.Extending radially from the mouth of the external cone is a flange. Means are provided to detachably affix said flange from the flange on existing manways present on trucks and railroad cars.
