摘要： An apparatus may include a platen, a light source system and an ultrasonic receiver system. The light source system may be configured to provide light to a target object on an outer surface of the platen. The light source system may be configured to direct the light along a first axis oriented at a first angle relative to the outer surface of the platen. The ultrasonic receiver system may be configured to receive ultrasonic waves generated by the target object responsive to the light from the light source system. The ultrasonic receiver system may include one or more receiver elements residing in a receiver plane. A normal to the receiver plane being may be oriented along a second axis at a second angle relative to the outer surface of the platen. The first angle may be different from the second angle.

摘要： A method for building a soundproof enclosure (10) in the form of an independent structure with acoustic properties for isolating noise and vibration is disclosed. The soundproof enclosure (10) comprised a plurality of acoustical wall panels (12) interconnectable each to another at opposing sides for enclosing an interior space (41) of various sizes. The soundproof enclosure (10) further comprised one or more modular multilayer ceiling unit(s) (13) assembled onto the top edges of the acoustical wall panels (12) to form the enclosure. The ceiling unit (13) comprised a plurality of ceiling layers (17), each ceiling layer (17) being vertically spaced apart with one another by brackets to topographically form the multiple guided spaces necessary for air flow circulation within the enclosure (10). These guided spaces can also house multiple implements such as circulation fan, air filter and sound silencer. Sound insulating material layer(s) are interposed between the contacting surfaces of the ceiling unit (13) and the acoustical wall panels (12) and/or all around the surfaces to isolate and decouple the ceiling unit (13) from the acoustical wall panels (12) from vibrations. A sound barrier cover (16a or 79) is interposed at the openings (25) of the air passages (24) to further reduce the sound level emitted into and exiting from the enclosure. In addition, a construction method by elevating the heavy acoustical wall panels (12) and the ceiling units (13) until they fall into precise assembly location for ease of assembly of the components of the enclosure (10) and a floor base unit 11 that enabled the enclosure (10) to about easily in whole is also disclosed. Furthermore, a method to ease assembly of the enclosure (10) by use of removable heavy-duty handles (87) is disclosed.

An alternative transducer comprises a mounting means for holding a discrete portion of at least a part of the periphery of the piezoelectric device wherein the parameters of the mounting means are selected to provide a required boundary condition for the periphery of the piezoelectric device whereby the desired power coupling between the transducer and the load is provided.

摘要： Improving the accuracy of ultrasonic touch sensing and fingerprint imaging using acoustic impedance matching is disclosed. Acoustic impedance mismatches between an ultrasonic transducer array and a sensing plate can be reduced to maximize energy transfer and minimize parasitic reflections. A reduction in acoustic impedance mismatches can be accomplished using (i) a composite epoxy having a higher acoustic impedance than epoxy alone, (ii) one or more matching layers having an acoustic impedance that is approximately the geometric mean of the acoustic impedance of the sensing plate and the acoustic impedance of the transducer array, (iii) pores or perforations in the sensing plate, or (iv) geometric structures formed in the sensing plate. In addition, parasitic reflections can be suppressed using an absorbent layer.

摘要： A transducer assembly operable to transmit ultrasonic energy in a desired direction towards a zone adapted to be acoustically coupled to an object or area of interest is disclosed which has a transducer layer, a backing material disposed behind the transducer layer with respect to the desired direction, and a back-matching layer disposed between the transducer layer and the backing material to reflect towards the transducer layer part of the ultrasonic energy directed from the transducer layer to the backing material.
The backing layer has an acoustic impedance higher than the acoustic impedance of the back-matching layer. The back-matching material has an impedance less than the impedance of the transducer layer and the transducer layer has a thickness greater than a ¼ of the wavelength of the ultrasound waves the assembly is configured to generate. A process for manufacturing a transducer assembly is also disclosed.

摘要： A probe cap for use with an ultrasound probe including a head portion and an acoustic surface is disclosed. In one embodiment, the probe cap includes a body that defines a cavity sized for releasably receiving the head portion of the probe therein. The probe cap body further defines a hole that is proximate the acoustic surface of the head portion. A compliant spacer component is disposed in the hole. The spacer component can include a hydrogel and provides an acoustic path between the acoustic surface and a tissue surface of a patient. The spacer component includes a skin contact surface that defines a concavity and is deformable against the tissue surface. Additional embodiments disclose various probe cap and accompanying needle guide designs for use in assisting a clinician with ultrasound probe use and needle insertion into a patient.

摘要： Apparatuses and methods for measuring and characterizing ultrasound using thermoacoustic sensors are provided. Thermoacoustic sensors can include heat flux sensors for detecting a temperature difference (between the front and back of the heat flux sensor) and an absorber layer attached to the heat flux sensor for absorbing ultrasound, converting it to heat, and also acting as an acoustic impedance matching layer. An heat sink can also be used. In some embodiments, thermoacoustic sensors can be arranged into an acoustic integrating sphere and face inward to form a cavity. The sphere can have an opening to the cavity, wherein ultrasound emitted through the opening can cause a temperature difference that can be detected by the thermoacoustic sensors. These apparatuses and others can provide for methods of measuring ultrasound power and/or methods of determining an ultrasound profile as the angular distribution of emitted ultrasound power generated by an ultrasound transducer.

摘要： Ultrasonic devices include a transducer having a piezoelectric element therein that may operate as an acoustic signal receiving surface and/or an acoustic signal generating surface. At least one acoustic matching layer is provided on the piezoelectric element. This at least one acoustic matching layer may be configured as a composite of N acoustic matching layers, with a first of the N acoustic matching layers contacting the primary surface of the piezoelectric element. This first acoustic matching layer may have an acoustic impedance equivalent to ZL1, where N is a positive integer greater than zero. In some embodiments of the invention, the magnitude of ZL1 may be defined as: 0.75 ((Zp)N+1(Zg))1/(N+2)≤ZL1≤1.25 ((Zp)N+1(Zg))1/(N+2), where Zp is the acoustic impedance of the piezoelectric element (e.g., lead zirconate titanate (PZT)) and Zg is the acoustic impedance of a compatible gas.
