    • The hub assembly of a disk cartridge has an annular groove formed in its bottom surface. The outer periphery of the annular groove undercuts the bottom surface of the hub assembly to form an annular lip around the outer periphery of the groove. A data storage device designed to receive the disk cartridge has a spindle motor with at least one latch member mounted on the upper portion of the motor via a flexure. The latch member on the spindle motor enters the annular groove on the hub assembly of the disk cartridge when the disk cartridge is inserted into the data storage device. When the spindle motor spins-up to its operating speed, the latch member moves radially outwardly on its flexure and engages the annular lip in the hub assembly, thereby preventing separation of the hub assembly from the spindle motor during rotation.

    • An optical information recording/reproducing apparatus is provided for recording information with an optical beam in an optical information recording medium enclosed in a cartridge and/or reproducing the information therefrom. The apparatus includes a holder for holding the cartridge to be inserted thereinto, a slide plate for moving the holder between a position where the slide plate receives the cartridge to be inserted into the apparatus and a position where the cartridge is loaded at a predetermined position in the apparatus, an optical head for irradiating the optical beam onto the optical information recording medium in the cartridge to record and/or reproduce information, and a restricting device for restricting movement of the slide plate during recording and/or reproducing information by the optical head. In one embodiment, the apparatus may further include a magnetic head for applying a modulation magnetic field according to the information to the recording medium and a floating slider for supporting the magnetic head to be capable of floating relative to the recording medium, in which the restricting device restricts the movement of the slide plate while the magnetic head is landing on the recording medium.

In accordance with the invention the record carrying means comprise a record carrying member which as a whole is axially movable between an upper and a lower position, which member by means of a parallel guidance is accurately coaxially movable relative to the centering member, the positioning surfaces for the frictional co-operation with a video record to be played being rigidly connected to the record carrier member and being disposed in a plane, which, regardless of the axial position of the record carrying member relative to the centering member, is always perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the drive spindle. Resilient means are provided for urging the record carrying member towards its upper position.
