    • Techniques and apparatus for selectively switching among two or more possible reference signal densities are disclosed. An example method comprises obtaining (110) one or more reference signal conditions that governs the density of the reference signal format to be transmitted by a wireless communication device in conjunction with data transmissions, where the one or more reference signal conditions are defined in advance of any scheduling of those data transmissions. The example method further comprises evaluating (120) the one or more reference signal conditions and selecting (130) a density of a reference signal format, from two or more possible densities, based on the outcome of the evaluation. In embodiments where the node that carries out the evaluation is the transmitting node, the method further comprises transmitting (140) one or more reference signals in conjunction with one or more data transmissions, in accordance with the selected reference signal density.

    • There is provided mechanisms for resource configuration in a wireless device-to-device (D2D) based communications network. A method performed by a first wireless device comprises transmitting discovery information for D2D communication on a first set of communications resources, wherein the first set of communications resources is a subset of communications resources available for the first wireless device. The method comprises receiving capability information for D2D communication from a second wireless device on the first set of communications resources. The method comprises allocating a second set of communications resources for D2D communication between the first wireless device and the second wireless device based on the available communications resources and the received capability information. The method comprises transmitting information identifying the second set of communications resources to the second wireless device using the first set of communications resources.

    • A first wireless communication device (14-1) belongs to a first (12-1) of multiple groups (12) of wireless communication devices (14). Devices (14) in any given group (12) are synchronized to the same timing reference and devices (14) in different groups (12) are not synchronized to the same timing reference. The first device (14-1) receives a message that indicates, for each of one or more of the groups (12), a range of possible values for misalignment between the timing reference of that group (12) and a common timing reference. The range accounts for uncertainty in that misalignment. The first device (14-1) determines, based on the one or more ranges, intervals of times during which direct control signaling is expected to be received at the first device (14-1) from one or more devices (14) in one or more other groups (12-2, 12-3). The first device (14-1) then adjusts intervals of times during which it is configured to operate in an awake state to narrowly encompass the intervals of times during which the direct control signaling is expected to be received.

    • The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for transmission of discovery signal signals and detection of discovery signal signals for device-to-device communication. According to some aspects, the disclosure relates to a method executed in a second wireless terminal for discovering a first wireless terminal, wherein the second wireless terminal 20 is configured with a set of one or more identities of wireless terminals with which device-to-device, D2D, communication is possible.
