    • Systems and methods are provided for automatically determining certain physical characteristics of a network device. In one embodiment, a method is employed to automatically determine the physical location of a network device. This method may employ a computer based system to acquire network device information, instruct the network devices to change power consumption, detect the changes and determine the physical location of the network device based on the changes detected. In another embodiment, a method is employed to automatically determine the functional type of a network device. This method may employ a computer based system to monitor the power drawn by the network device at a power distribution device and determine the network device functional type based on the power drawn.

    • A system for cooling a data center includes a plurality of cooling racks, with each cooling rack including a housing and cooling system components supported by the housing. The system further includes a fluid communication system coupled to the cooling system components of the plurality of racks. The fluid communication system is configured to provide chilled coolant to and exhaust heated coolant from coolant system components of each cooling rack. The system also includes at least one controller coupled to each cooling rack of the plurality of cooling racks to control the operation of each cooling rack. The plurality of cooling racks and the fluid communication system are configured to be modular to allow placement of cooling racks in different locations in a row of equipment racks within the data center. Methods of cooling a data center are further disclosed.

    • At least one aspect is directed to an uninterruptible power supply that includes a first input to receive a first input voltage from a first voltage source, a second input to receive a second input voltage from a second voltage source, and a boost circuit coupled to the first input and the second input. The boost circuit is configured to provide a positive output DC voltage and a negative output DC voltage derived from at least one of the first input voltage and the second input voltage. The uninterruptible power supply is configured such that in a back-up mode of operation, the negative output DC voltage is derived from the second input voltage using a circuit that includes at least two controlled switches coupled in series.

The computer program product resides on a computer-readable medium and includes computer-executable instructions for causing the computer to process data received from the UPS to which the computer is coupled to produce indicia of changes in power status associated with the UPS, provide the indicia of changes in power status associated with the UPS to the communication interface destined for a remote device, and provide geographic information associated with the indicia of changes in power status that indicates a geographic location associated with the UPS.
