    • A hardware device outputs management information relating to an event that occurs in a managed object. A management information processing unit generates charts for displaying the management information relating to the event. A management screen editing unit generates a management screen for managing a state of the managed object using the charts generated by the management information processing unit. The management screen editing unit further sets a significance of each of the charts generated; generates a first management screen for selecting one of a plurality of chart groups relating to the event that occurs in the managed object; generates a second management screen for displaying a chart group selected in the first management screen; and provides a special display for a particular chart group that includes a chart whose significance is higher than a predetermined threshold, in order to distinguish the particular chart group from other chart groups.

    • If a failure occurs in physical resources constituting a virtual volume, a management server device is notified of information required by a user. A computer system includes a server device for managing a plurality of virtual volumes, a storage apparatus having a storage unit equipped with a plurality of storage devices, and a controller for controlling data input to, or output from, the storage unit, a management server device which is an access target of a user terminal, and an event management device for managing an event(s) generated by the server device or the storage apparatus, wherein when the event management device receives the event, it judges the content of the event and identifies a virtual volume to be affected by the event; and if a service level that should be satisfied by the identified virtual volume is defined for the identified virtual volume, the event management device identifies, based on the content of the received event, whether an incident in violation of the service level has occurred or not, and then notifies the management server device of the identified content as an event based on an event filter.

    • A method for detecting events based upon attributes read by a plurality of entities includes receiving data pertaining to the read attributes from the plurality of entities, performing a correlation analysis on the data to identify a number of independent variables existing among the read attributes for each of a plurality of groupings of the plurality of entities in a first hierarchical level of the plurality of hierarchical levels, comparing the identified number of independent variables with a nominal number of independent variables for each of the plurality of groupings in the first hierarchical level, and determining that an event has been detected in response to the identified number of independent variables falling outside of a predetermined value of the nominal number of independent variables for a particular grouping in the first hierarchical level.
