    • The present invention relates to an electronic illumination apparatus which may be used in audio equipment. The electronic illumination apparatus allows recognition of the position of rotational operation of a knob by the light from a built-in light emitting diode. The object of the present invention is to provide an illumination type electronic part of rotational operation which is readily adaptable to changes in specifications for the rotational operation shaft. The disclosed apparatus also is able to withstand a strong thrust force applied to the rotational operation shaft, to reduce the hitting sound emitted from the rotatable stopper of the rotational operation shaft, and also to light up the illumination means disposed on the end of the rotational operation shaft in a stable manner. In order to achieve the foregoing object, the rotational operation shaft is made in a simple hollowed cylindrical shape, and the rotor having a stopper for restricting the extent of its rotational motion is prepared separately from the rotational operation shaft, preferably by resin molding. More preferably, the rotor is made of a transparent resin and integrally molded together with the light collecting lens for the light emitting apparatus.

    • A potentiometer comprises a housing having a resistance element disposed therewithin, a spur gear rotatably housed within the housing and drivingly engaged with a worm gear that is rotatably supported by the housing for rotating the spur gear when such worm gear is externally turned. A resilient wiper assembly carried by the spur gear for rotation therewith sweeps the resistance element and applies a resilient force to the spur gear to urge the latter in a direction away from the resistance element. The spur gear has a toothless area defined at a portion of the toothed periphery thereof which corresponds in position to one end of the resistance element. The toothless area has a tapered face engageable with the worm gear to displace the spur gear in the opposite direction against the resiliency of the wiper assembly when the wiper means is brought to the end of the resistance element wherefore the spur gear can be disengaged from the worm gear.

    • A variable resistor for use in a frequency regulator comprises an actuator having an intermediate portion pivotally supported by a casing, and a pair of opposite actuating end portions exposed from the casing. A pair of opposite feed pawls depend from the actuator to engage a rotor pivotally supported by the casing between the opposite feed pawls. The rotor has on peripheral edges thereof teeth meshing with the feed pawls, and carries a slider. A resistor base plate is mounted on the casing and has an arcuate resistor layer facing the slider of the rotor. The actuator is angularly movable in response to depression of one at a time of the actuating end portions thereof for turning the rotor in one direction through meshing engagement between the feed pawls and the teeth to thereby cause the slider to slide on the arcuate resistor layer. Therefore, the resistance of the variable resistor can be varied simply by pushing the actuator angularly back and forth. The variable resistor also includes a first light-emitting element for indicating operation of the variable resistor and a second light-emitting element for indicating an angular position of the rotor.
