    • This invention discloses a type of noncontact linear potentiometer; the potentiometer comprises a slider, a rotating shaft, a guide rod, a tunneling magnetoresistive sensor, a permanent magnet, a printed circuit board, and two support structures. In this configuration the slider moves along the guide rod and the rotating shaft, causing the rotation of the rotating shaft; the permanent magnet is attached to an end of the rotating shaft, and it therefore rotates as the shaft rotates. A tunneling magnetoresistive sensor is located adjacent to the permanent magnet, soldered onto a printed circuit board, and it is used to measure the angle of rotation of the permanent magnet. The guide rod constrains the sliding direction of the slider, and the two support structures are located at the opposite ends of the guide rod and rotating shaft, and they are used to support the rotating shaft and guide rod. Located between the slider and rotating shaft is a ball bearing, a pin and a leaf spring assembly. This potentiometer has several advantages, including a compact structure, easy fabrication, long service life, in addition to providing smooth slider motion that provides a pleasing user experience.

    • A variable resistor includes a reduction rotation transmission mechanism including a plurality of gears for transmitting rotation of an operating member, a resistance member including a rotary member for varying resistance, and a rotation transmission member for rotating the rotary member. A plate-shaped clutch is disposed between the rotation transmission member and a geared wheel disposed at a termination end of the reduction rotation transmission mechanism, so that a clutch mechanism is formed.     • A dual magnet Hall effect switch for contactless switching is provided. The Hall effect switch includes a magnet carriage and a Hall effect sensor positioned inside a switch housing. The magnet carriage includes two magnets positioned with opposite polarities facing the Hall effect sensor and in contact. When the switch is actuated, the magnet carriage is displaced within the switch housing and relative to the Hall effect sensor. The two magnets positioned inside the magnet carriage are also displaced. The positional displacement of the magnets relative to the Hall effect sensor alters the magnetic field detected by the Hall effect sensor. When the magnetic field detected by the Hall effect sensor reaches a predetermined level, the switch is actuated. The Hall effect switch also includes a boot seal sealing the switch and an internal clicker ball to provide an audible or tactile indication of the switch's actuation.

    • A resistor card for a potentiometer to measure the fuel in a fuel tank consists of a non-conductive substrate with a plurality of elongate conductive contacts deposited. The contacts have an elevation above the surface of the substrate and the contacts are oriented in parallel relationship to each other to form a wiper track across which a wiper is movable. To reduce the rate at which the upper surfaces of the contacts are worn away by movement of the wiper, a non-conductive filler is deposited between the conductive materials which form the lands.
