    • A control section 32 supplies a current obtained by rectifying the output of an exciting winding 5 to a field winding 3 responding to variations in the output voltage of the generator to suppress the variations in the output voltage of the generator. The control section 32 drives a transistor 37 at a duty based on a difference between the output voltage of a main winding 4 and a target voltage and controls the gate voltage of an FET 38 to control a field current to a constant value. A flywheel power generation unit including a control power supply winding 14 is provided as a power source of the control section 32 and a power source for passing an initial current through the field winding 3. A current to be supplied to the field winding 3 from the flywheel power generation unit is merged with an exciting current via a diode 31.

An exciter system such as this results in the capability to briefly increase the excitation in a simple, functionally reliable and space-saving manner, by inserting a forward-biased diode (22) into the exciter circuit, and by the capability to connect the second device (23) to the diode (22), in the reverse-bias direction, in order to feed the energy into the exciter circuit.

    • A generator/motor system and a method for operating this generator/motor system with which the filter currents are reduced. The generator/motor system has, for this purpose, a rotational field machine (DM) and a pulse-controlled inverter and filter capacitors (C1, C2). The pulse-controlled inverter is formed by two identical pulse-controlled inverters (PWR1, PWR2) which each have half the rated power. During operation, depending on the necessary rotational speed switching over is performed between a star circuit in which only the first pulse-controlled inverter is operational, and a single phase circuit in which both pulse-controlled inverters are operational. In order to obtain a torque which is comparable to the prior art, even if only one of the two pulse-controlled inverters is used, the rotational field machine has approximately twice the number of stator turns.

    • The vehicle generator regulating apparatus includes a switching device operating to allow a field current to flow into a field coil of the vehicle generator from a vehicle battery when applied with a voltage signal, a drive circuit applying the voltage signal to the switching device when supplied with a control signal, and a control circuit supplying the control signal to the drive circuit when the output voltage is detected to be not above a predetermined voltage. The drive circuit includes a charge pump circuit stepping up a DC voltage supplied from the battery to generate the voltage signal by repeatedly performing a cycle of charging and discharging multiple capacitors in synchronization with an oscillation signal from an oscillator circuit. The drive circuit is configured to lower the frequency of the oscillation signal when the vehicle generator is in a low power output state.
