In one step, a secure portion of a secure object and a plaintext remainder of the secure object are received. Which portion of the secure object is the secure portion is determined. The secure portion is decrypted to provide a plaintext portion. The plaintext object that comprises the plaintext portion and the plaintext remainder is formed. The plaintext object is stored including authentication and authorization.

摘要： A terminal device determines whether a clock is a secure clock or a self-running clock. If the clock is the self-running clock, the device stores a clocking time of the clock as a timestamp file in a memory card in recording content. In playing back the content, the device determines validity of a clocking time using the timestamp file to play back the content and also updates the stored time of the stored time as the timestamp file to a content playback start time. In contrast, if the clock is the secure clock, the device stores the timestamp file indicating a recording time of the content in the memory card only in recording the content and omits updating the stored time as the timestamp file in playing back the content.

The content downloader may have an identification whereby its identity is authenticated by the content provider. The content downloader downloads the content selected by the user after successful authentication whereby the selection is made using the display and the set-top-box, and the content downloaded to the content downloader separate than the set-top-box.

An embodiment of a method includes selecting a first port for foreground processing of a stream of data received at the first port, the stream of data including content data, and sampling a set of data received at a second port, the second port being not selected for foreground processing, the set of data including a data packet and error correction data. The method further includes performing background processing of the set of data, wherein the background processing includes decrypting data of the data packet and utilizing the error correction data to determine whether the data packet contains an error, and determining whether data received at the second port is encrypted based at least in part on the determination whether the data packet contains an error.
