    • Aspects of the disclosure relate generally to a connector including a housing with a severing device and a pair of wire taps built into the housing. For example, the severing device may sever the electrical connection along one or more wires placed inside the connector. The pair of wire taps may patch into the severed ends of the wires, intercepting any signal transmitted through the wires, and patching any signal transmitted along the wire tap into the severed wires. The wire taps may further be connected to an intermediate device, placing the intermediate device in series with the ends of the severed wire. The connector may also include a switching device between the first and second wire taps. When the switching device is closed, the switching device may directly connect the wire taps, shorting out the intermediate device and effectively reestablishing the direct electrical connection between the severed wire ends.

    • A multi-core cable assembly is formed by arranging a plurality of cables side by side and connecting the cables to a substrate 30 which is a connection member. The plurality of cables configure flat cable units 10, 20 for each diameter of cables, and ground bars 16, 27 are fixed thereto so as to be electrically connected with a shield member included in the cable. Each of ground bars 16, 27 are electrically connected to a ground pad 31 of the substrate 30. The ground bars 16, 27 adjacent to each other are disposed to be shifted in a longitudinal direction of the cable. In addition, two ground bars 16, 27 interposing the other one ground bar and positioned at both sides thereof are disposed in a position overlapped in the longitudinal direction of the cables.

    • A cable includes a wiring assembly with a knuckle and wires bundled together. The cable also includes a connector assembly with a connector having connections for the wires, where the connections are arranged along a longitudinal axis. In some embodiments, the connector assembly captures an end of the wiring assembly, and the knuckle of the wiring assembly is pivotally connected to the connector assembly. In some embodiments, the cable includes circuitry configured to authenticate the cable to a device connected to the cable by the connector and/or to authenticate the device connected to the cable. A control system includes control elements and/or subsystems coupled with a backplane adjacent to one another and cables configured to connect to the control elements and/or subsystems. Wiring assemblies of the cables can articulate to be parallel to each respective connector. Further, each cable can authenticate the cables and/or the control elements or subsystems.
