摘要： A vacuum table for a wide format printing system, wherein a medium support surface with vacuum holes therein is spaced apart from a bottom plate by a spacer array. The spacer array is formed by an integrally formed spacer structure with a first and a second longitudinal plate positioned between the bottom plate and the medium support surface. These plates comprise a plurality of air flow through-holes as well as a top support edge and a bottom support edge extending equidistantly to one another. A connection element connects the first longitudinal plates and is positioned between the bottom support plane and the top support plane. The use of longitudinal plates allows the spacer to be cheaply and easily produced by punching. The plates further offer the advantage of a low air flow resistance while maintaining a high rigidity of the spacer array.

摘要： A roll-fed printing apparatus and a method for controlling a roll-fed printing apparatus for printing images on at least one recording medium are disclosed. The roll-fed apparatus includes a print engine, a controller including a roll managing system for managing the printing of ripped images on the at least one recording medium. The method includes the steps of the controller receiving a plurality of ripped images from a raster image processor into memory of the roll managing system, for each ripped image the roll managing system establishing an arbitrary position in the plane of the at least one recording medium at which arbitrary position the ripped image is intended to be printed, the controller creating subsequent image swathes for printing the ripped images according to the established arbitrary positions of the ripped images, the print engine subsequently printing the created subsequent image swathes; and the roll managing system displaying and maintaining an image queue area including the ripped images to be printed on the at least one recording medium and the ripped images currently being printed on the at least one recording medium. The method includes the steps of the roll managing system providing a plurality of event image objects which are manually or automatically placeable in the image queue area and the image queue area is configured to receive an event image object of the plurality of event image objects between the ripped images to be printed on the least one recording medium in the image queue area, and the controller setting for an event image object of the plurality at least one printing and/or finishing command to be executed by the printing apparatus in accordance with a timing sequence of printing of the print jobs displayed in the image queue area.

摘要： A duplex sheet printer comprising a first and second sheet quality detection device for determining a suitability of a sheet for printing. The first sheet quality detection device applies a first sheet rejection threshold to which sensed sheets are compared, while the second sheet quality detection device applies a second sheet rejection threshold different from the first. The controller designates sheets in the printing system to be sensed by one of the sheet quality detection devices in accordance with the sheet's media type or the sheet being on a simplex or duplex pass. Different rejection criteria are thus applied to the sheets without adjustment of a sheet quality detection device, resulting in high speed printing.

摘要： In a method for high speed printing of web-based media, a medium is pulled along a media transport path to a pulling transport mechanism. The orientation of the medium with respect to the media transport path is sensed and this orientation is compared to a reference orientation to detect an orientation error. If an orientation error is detected, one or more of the following steps is performed: adjusting a print job for an image to be printed on the web medium; adjusting the transport speed; emitting a communication signal; and stopping the pulling transport mechanism and the image forming unit. It is the insight of the inventor that productivity may be increased by allowing a “tight winding” printing system to start printing at relatively high speed and reduce this speed only when significantly large deviations in the orientation of the web are detected.
