The system may also include a controller configured to receive signals from the plurality of sensors, determine whether the outer edges of upper surfaces of adjacent ramp portions are aligned, and provide signals to the actuators to affect movement thereof causing the outer edges of the upper surfaces of the adjacent ramp portions to be aligned.

    • A method for detecting precipitation is disclosed. The method may include receiving a signal from a sensing module positioned in the vicinity of a railroad track, the signal being indicative of a capacitive dielectric property of a form of precipitation that has accumulated in the vicinity of the railroad track. The method may further include processing the signal from the sensing module to determine the type of precipitation that has accumulated in the vicinity of the railroad track as a function of the indicated capacitive dielectric property. The method may still further include sending a signal indicative of a recommended action based on the type of precipitation.

    • An engine warming system for a machine is disclosed. The engine warming system may have a first engine and a second engine each connected to a dedicated first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger, respectively. The engine warming system may also have a common heat exchanger connected to both the first and second engines to transfer heat between coolant flows from the first and second engines. Further, the engine warming system may have a first pump and a second pump driven by the first engine and second engine, respectively, to circulate coolant from the first and second engines through the common heat exchanger. The engine warming system may also have at least one coolant pump driven by power generated by at least one of the first and second engines, to circulate coolant from a non-operational one of the first and second engines through the common heat exchanger.

The system also includes a memory (42) for storing characteristic waveform signature data corresponding to known undercarriage components. In addition, the system includes a processor (40) for processing the scanning waveform signature data with respect to the characteristic waveform signature data stored in memory to identify a type of the rail vehicle undercarriage component being scanned and to extract information indicative of a health condition of the rail vehicle undercarriage component being identified.

    • A method of propelling a mobile machine is disclosed. The mobile machine may have a plurality of DC traction motors, including a first DC traction motor and a second DC traction motor. The method may include driving a first traction device with the first DC traction motor, the first DC traction motor including a first field coil and a first armature electrically connected in series. The method may also include driving a second DC traction device with the second DC traction motor electrically connected in series with the first DC traction motor, the second DC traction motor including a second field coil and a second armature electrically connected in series. Additionally, the method may include, in response to slippage of the first traction device, bypassing at least a portion of electric current flowing through the first field coil around the first armature. The method may also include directing at least a portion of the bypassed electric current through the second field coil and the second armature.
