    • Apparatus for transferring power to through an isolated, insulated connection. A power transfer assembly includes a portable cable assembly and a receiver. The portable cable assembly includes a power plug and a transmitter with a plug portion that mates with a receptacle on the receiver. A magnetic latch secures the plug portion in the ring receptacle. The transmitter includes a power supply, a power switch, a signal sensor, and a transmitting inductor. The receiver includes a receiving inductor, a signal coil, a magnet, a power converter, a temperature sensor, and an isolation switch. When the transmitter is coupled with the receiver, the power switch is operated by the magnet, the signal sensor is magnetically coupled to the signal coil, and the transmitting inductor is magnetically coupled to the receiving inductor. The normally open isolation switch is operated when the power converter is energized by the transmitter.

    • A pressure compensating molding system with die faces of thin sheets. A thin die sheet separates a mold cavity from a heating/cooling cavity. A heating system causes a heated fluid to flow through the heating/cooling cavity, thereby preheating the thin sheet. The injection material is forced through a sprue into the mold cavity. Pressure sensors monitor the pressure of the injection material in the mold cavity and in the heating/cooling cavity. A controller varies the pressure in the heating/cooling cavity to equalize a pressure differential across the thin die sheet. A cooling system causes a cooling fluid to flow through the heating/cooling cavity to cool the molded component.

    • A designer proton-channel transgenic alga for photobiological hydrogen production that is specifically designed for production of molecular hydrogen (H2) through photosynthetic water splitting. The designer transgenic alga includes proton-conductive channels that are expressed to produce such uncoupler proteins in an amount sufficient to increase the algal H2 productivity. In one embodiment the designer proton-channel transgene is a nucleic acid construct (300) including a PCR forward primer (302), an externally inducible promoter (304), a transit targeting sequence (306), a designer proton-channel encoding sequence (308), a transcription and translation terminator (310), and a PCR reverse primer (312). In various embodiments, the designer proton-channel transgenic algae are used with a gas-separation system (500) and a gas-products-separation and utilization system (600) for photobiological H2 production.
