The second bladder is nested within the first bladder. The technique for deploying an inflatable lens further includes replacing the first fluid with a third fluid and replacing the second fluid with a fourth fluid.

A first set of independently-switchable radio-frequency reflectors are positioned around at least the first active antenna element. 摘要： A metamaterial-based phase shifting element utilizes a variable capacitor (varicap) to control the effective capacitance of a metamaterial structure in order to control the phase of a radio frequency output signal generated by the metamaterial structure. The metamaterial structure is configured to resonate at the same radio wave frequency as an incident input signal (radiation), whereby the metamaterial structure emits the output signal by way of controlled scattering the input signal. A variable capacitance applied on metamaterial structure by the varicap is adjustable by way of a control voltage, whereby the output phase is adjusted by way of adjusting the control voltage. The metamaterial structure is constructed using inexpensive metal film or PCB fabrication technology including an upper metal “island” structure, a lower metal backplane layer, and a dielectric layer sandwiched therebetween. The varicap is connected between the island structure and a base metal structure that surrounds the island structure.

摘要： A radiating phase-shifting cell is designed to favour the excitation of an equivalent resonance of the “slot” type in a first part of the phase cycle, and to favour an equivalent resonance of the “microstrip” type in a second part of the phase cycle. This property notably allows the bandwidth of the phase-shifting cells to be optimized. A phase range of 360° can in effect be segmented into two sub-ranges of around 180°. This segmentation into two sub-ranges is made possible by the complementarity of the resonant modes of the slot or microstrip type. The radiating phase-shifting cell is notably applicable to reflector arrays for an antenna designed to be installed on a space craft such as a telecommunications satellite or on a terrestrial terminal for satellite telecommunications or broadcasting systems.

摘要： A method for use with a reflectarray antenna for wireless telecommunication is described. The method involves providing a reflectarray antenna, and adjusting a phase of a scattered field of the reflectarray antenna for generating different radiation patterns for angular mode-based multiplexing. The reflectarray antenna includes a ground plane, a dielectric substrate attached on the ground plane; and a first antenna patch formed on one side of the dielectric substrate. Further, the reflectarray antenna includes a second antenna patch formed adjacent to the first antenna patch with a separation area therebetween; and a phase adjustment member disposed in the separation area. The phase of the scattered field of the antenna is adjusted by changing a DC voltage of the phase adjustment member.
