    • A window shade that reduces the risk of an individual becoming entangled in cords used to operate the shade includes a headrail adapted for horizontal mounting above a window, a shading material attached to the headrail, and at least one cord for raising and lowering the shading material. The cord is attached to a location adjacent a lower end of the material, and extends upward through split ring cord guides toward the headrail. The cord is encased within a collapsible shroud attached to each cord guide. The shroud is adapted to longitudinally extend as the shading material is lowered toward a deployed position, and then longitudinally collapse as the shading material is raised toward a stowed position.

    • A method is provided for calibrating past position estimates from a positioning system that provides real-time position estimates of a mobile object. The method first stores the real-time position estimates, which as time goes by become past position estimates and naturally form a first past trajectory depicting the past movement of the mobile object. Subsequently, a calibrated past trajectory is determined, which includes calibrated past position estimates that correspond to the same time instances as the past positions in the first past trajectory. When real-time positions have low qualities, this method calibrates them at a later time by using (higher-quality) real-time positions both before and after them. Errors in the past positions are then corrected based on the calibrated past trajectory. When used with event detectors that indicate inventory transactions, this method can correct position errors associated with inventory events so as to improve the performance of inventory tracking.

    • The present invention relates to a method for forming a via in a substrate. The method includes the following steps: (a) providing a substrate; (b) forming a groove that has a side wall and a bottom wall on a first surface of the substrate; (c) forming a first conductive metal on the side wall and the bottom wall of the groove so as to form a central groove; (d) forming a center insulating material in the central groove; (e) forming an annular groove that surrounds the first conductive metal on the first surface of the substrate; (f) forming a first insulating material in the annular groove; and (g) removing part of the substrate to expose the first conductive metal, the center insulating material and the first insulating material.

The variable height blender system includes drive controls for independently controlling movement of the first and second lifts, and a synchronizer in communication with at least one of the first and second drive controls for synchronizing the movement of the first and second lifts to maintain the batch blender substantially level. The synchronizer includes a level sensor that senses a tilt of the batch blender with respect to a local gravity vector and sends level reading signals to the synchronizer for use in independently adjusting the speeds of the first and/or second lift.
