Each of the vehicle wash packages has an associated unique color identifier. The system includes a controller configured to receive a selection from the vehicle operator of one of the plurality of different vehicle wash packages. The system includes a vehicle treatment zone, including at least one illumination element associated therewith. The at least one illumination element is in communication with the controller. The controller is configured to emit light from the at least one illumination element in a color that corresponds to the color identifier of the vehicle package selected by the vehicle operator.

The bearing support structure is attached to a swing arm by means of an extra pivot which provides a breakaway function. An alarm and/or event recorder is provided to trigger an inspection in the event the breakaway function is brought into play.

A recirculating arrangement insures that the hot water arriving at the carriage from the equipment room is at a predetermined hot temperature; a flexible carrier folds and unfolds in a trough along the rail structure and threadably receives the various supply conduits to provide effective transport of the required wash elements to the carriage; a compound bearing structure on the carriage efficiently journals the pivotal ends of the very large and heavy spray arms required to process large vehicles; a unique splicing arrangement allows the provision of a long guide rail structure having an uninterrupted upper surface to allow smooth carriage movements; and a customized windshield washer assembly on the carriage allows effective washing of even the recessed windshields of large vehicles having long hoods.

Water standing in the supply line is prevented for a time from going to the spray nozzles and, instead, is directed back to the source. This allows the temperature in the line to reach a predetermined desired value before washing is started. Water is recirculated at a faster rater than it is dispensed once the desired temperature has been reached.
