摘要： A radio access network element includes a cellular interface and a processor. The cellular interface is configured to communicate with the user equipment via a cellular link. The processor is configured execute computer readable instructions to cause the radio access network element to: transmit a plurality of probe packets to the user equipment via an IP tunnel between the radio access network element and the user equipment through a wireless local area network access point; receive a probe packet response from the user equipment, the probe packet response being indicative of a connection quality of the IP tunnel between the radio access network element and the user equipment; and determine whether to switch from a first traffic routing mode to a second traffic routing mode based on the probe packet response from the user equipment.

摘要： The present disclosure generally discloses a hybrid wireless communication system configured to support wireless broadband connectivity for a geographic region including a set of wireless network access devices configured to support wireless communications by a set of communication gateways disposed at locations within the geographic region. The hybrid wireless communication system may be configured to operate across a set of multiple radio spectrum bands associated with a set of multiple carrier frequencies, respectively. The hybrid wireless communication system may be configured to jointly determine assignment of the locations (and, thus, the associated communication gateways) to the multiple carrier frequencies of the multiple radio spectrum bands and to configure the wireless network access devices to support the jointly determined assignment of the locations to the multiple carrier frequencies of the multiple radio spectrum bands.

摘要： The present invention relates to a queue management unit and method for streaming video packets in a wireless network. The method includes determining a type of frame from a header of a video packet received at a transmit buffer. The method further includes discarding the received frame if the received frame is dependent upon any previously discarded frame, otherwise storing the received frame in one of a plurality of sub-queues of the transmit buffer according to the type of frame, where each sub-queue of the plurality of sub-queues stores frames corresponding to one type of frame. Also, the method includes creating space in the transmit buffer if there is insufficient space for a higher priority frame by discarding lower priority frames, as well as discarding frames in the transmit if the received frame is delayed more than a maximum period of time.

In one method, one or more maximum transmission rate parameters from a network controller are stored at a proxy server in response to a receiver report message from the client. A target rate for the media session is generated based on the stored maximum transmission rate parameters, and the target rate is transmitted to a media server in a proxy-to-server feedback message. The media server selects the content rate from among a plurality of supported content rates in response to the proxy-to-server feedback message from the proxy server, and streams streaming multimedia frames to the client at the selected content rate.

摘要： In a method for dynamically setting a content rate of a multimedia session for a client in a network, a proxy server receives a channel condition feedback message from a network controller and determines whether a receiver report message has been received from the client since a most recent previous channel condition feedback message. The channel condition feedback message includes current channel condition information for the network. The proxy server sends one of an extended feedback report message and a short feedback report message to a media server based on the determining step. The short feedback report message includes at least a maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session. The extended feedback report message includes at least information contained in the receiver report message. The extended feedback report message may, in addition, include the maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session.
