    • A touch sensing system comprises: a touch sensing unit which includes regions having predetermined coordinates; and a baseline updating unit for updating a baseline by reflecting sensing signals outputted from the touch sensing unit. The baseline updating unit includes a comparator for calculating difference values between the sensing signal of an n-th frame and the baseline of an n−1-th frame for each region, and for comparing the difference values with predetermined reference values. The touch sensing system further comprises an arithmetic unit for setting the baseline of the n−1-th frame as the baseline of the n-th frame for a region in which the difference values are larger than the reference values and for the region adjacent to it, and for updating the baseline of the n-th frame by a predetermined arithmetic for a remaining region.

    • A liquid crystal display (LCD) with a built-in touch screen includes: a first substrate including a sensor area having a plurality of photosensors; a second substrate positioned over the first substrate, and including a color filter, a light receiving portion, and a transparent electrode layer and a front polarizing plate; an LCD panel including a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates; a touch screen driver circuit to measure a capacitance variation sensed through a first sensing line connected to the transparent electrode layer and to calculate a touch area using optical information sensed through a second sensing line connected to the photosensors when a contact object is in contact with the LCD panel, and to output position information of the contact object, sensed by determining whether a touch occurs and whether a multi-touch occurs using the capacitance variation and the touch area.

    • A touch sensing system for detecting at least one touch is provided. The touch sensing system includes a touch sensing unit having a plurality of touchable regions for outputting sensing signals of the at least one touch, an operating unit for determining difference values between the sensing signals and a baseline value, a group setting unit for grouping ones of the regions in which the difference values exist into one or more groups, and a threshold value determining unit for determining maximum difference values from the groups to determine first threshold values of the groups corresponding to the determined maximum difference values. The touch sensing system increases the correctness of the touch detection by adaptively changing the first threshold value in accordance with the touch strength. A method of driving the touch sensing system is also provided.

    • A method of detecting a touch point includes detecting an edge image of a finger image from an input image, generating a touch point image utilizing the detected edge image, and calculating coordinates of the touch point from the touch point image. The touch point image may be generated by setting a center at a position separated by a set distance in a gradient direction with respect to a position where the edge image is detected, and generating the touch point image by summing up gradient magnitude values with respect to a set area based on the set center. The coordinates of multiple touch points may be calculated by updating coordinates of the multiple touch points according to the gradient magnitude values accumulatively summed up in the multiple touch points based on a comparison between the coordinates of the multiple touch points and the set distance.
