    • Methods and systems for developing a computer application wherein a domain specific language is provided that allows for the developing of computer applications based on a configuration. In particular, the domain specific language pertains to calculation tasks. The developing of a computer application is performed at different levels or phases. In particular, these phases are the providing of an application development system in the design phase, performing the application configuration and executing the application. The design phase provides the application design environment and provides the abstract basis for the application development in the sense of configuration classes and domain-specific language. For the specific configuration of an application in a particular project, i.e. for the development of a specific application, resources as elements and their associations are defined. This configuration is stored in a configuration file. At run time, an application is generated which instantiates the resources and configured elements. Within the generated graphical user interfaces of the application the instantiated resource objects are provided and the calculation is performed according to the configured element assignment.

    • Methods, techniques, and systems for providing project scopes as super-ordinate instances of computer applications projects are provided. Example embodiments provide a method wherein the computer applications are developed based on configuration files of a domain specific language pertaining to calculation tasks. In one embodiment, a “Scope of Resources” class is provided at design phase time. The class defines instances of resources that can be assigned in specific projects. Each project is associated with at least one scope. A project scope is automatically generated when a project is created. The association of resources to scopes and projects is performed during execution of the configured application. In addition to providing pre-configured values and attributes for projects, a scope also provides an aggregation level that is higher than the project level. Accordingly, aggregation analysis can be performed on elements and resources of several projects in their aggregation or taking into account eventual interdependencies.

    • Methods, techniques, and systems for providing replication mechanisms in distributed computer environments executing database applications are provided. The mechanisms provide for replication of application objects between clients in the distributed computer environment as well as between an application server and a database server in the distributed computer environment, wherein the copying of an object onto a target storage at a client or a server is performed not before a request on that object is initiated via the target storage. In an example embodiment, each application object has assigned a proxy object, which sits before the real object. Accordingly, the proxies take over functions of lazy loading and change tracking from real application objects. Objects which have been loaded into the target context are stored in a local object store at the respective client or server.
