    • A water-cooled V-type engine includes a first coolant passage for supplying a liquid coolant discharged from a water pump disposed proximate a first cylinder, to a water jacket of the first cylinder. The engine also includes a second coolant passage which is branched off from the first coolant passage, and which is provided for supplying coolant to a water jacket of a second cylinder. The engine design allows for a shortened coolant hose. The water pump may include an integral fluid conduit including a branching portion where said second coolant supply passage is branched from said first coolant supply passage, and a restricted portion proximate the branching portion. A motorcycle including a vehicle body frame is also described, where the water-cooled V-type engine is operatively attached to the vehicle body frame.

    • A four-cycle air-oil cooled engine includes a cylinder head having a spark plug mounting hole formed therein, and a ring-like groove formed therein and surrounding the spark plug mounting hole. The cylinder head is formed with first and second co-planar sealing surfaces, disposed on a plane perpendicular to an axis of the spark plug mounting hole, and having an opening end of the ring-like groove disposed therebetween. The ring-like groove defines an oil jacket around the periphery of the spark plug mounting hole. A cover member having a flat surface opposed to the first and second flat sealing surfaces of the cylinder head is secured to the cylinder head such that a single gasket is interposed between the first and second sealing surfaces and the flat surface of the cover member.

    • The slide type valve of the present invention has a structure in which a movable flowpath forming member is pressed toward a slidable sealing member by use of a spring member and in which the load of the slidable sealing member received from the movable flowpath forming member becomes equal to a constant spring load determined by a spring force of the spring member. Additionally, an attachment member holding the movable flowpath forming member that is movable to the fixed flowpath forming member has a housing hole whose shape substantially coinciding with the shape of the movable flowpath forming member. The movable flowpath forming member is housed in the housing hole so as to be slidable in a direction perpendicular to the first end surface of the fixed flowpath forming member, and, accordingly, the load distribution is uniformed both in a first seal sliding surface and in a second seal sliding surface of the slidable sealing member. Additionally, a third flowpath is formed to follow one direction so as to reach the second seal sliding surface from the first seal sliding surface, and, as a result, a pressure loss in the flowpath is minimized.
