    • A method includes (a) receiving, at a computing device, a first certificate signing request (1CSR) from a certificate authority (CA), the 1CSR including an embedded second certificate signing request (2CSR), the 2CSR having been received by the CA from an entity seeking a signed certificate from the CA that validates an identity claim made by the entity in the 2CSR, the CA having performed a preliminary verification of the 2CSR prior to embedding it in the 1CSR, (b) verifying that the 1CSR came from the CA, (c) performing a verification procedure on the embedded 2CSR independent of the preliminary verification performed by the CA, to validate the identity claim made by the entity in the 2CSR, and (d) upon successfully validating the identity claim made by the entity in the 2CSR, sending a certificate to the CA, the certificate validating the identity claim made by the entity in the 2CSR.

    • A a process for producing slabs from steel, in which the strand leaves a permanent mold with liquid melt enclosed by the strand shell and, in a downstream strand guiding assembly, the gap between guide rollers mounted in stands is set infinitely variably by adjusting elements connecting lower and upper frames, characterized by the following steps: a) the gap(s) is changed by an oscillation about a predeteminable center line (c) of the gap in such a way that the dynamic influences on the guide rollers are negligible, and no plastic deformation of the strand shell occurs; b) the current gap (s) is recorded, c) at the same time, the actuating force (F) of the adjusting elements and the amplitude (A) of the actuating force are determined, and d) with increasing amplitude (A) of the actuating force (F), the gap (s) is set to a predeterminable value and/or is pressure-controlled by at least one adjusting element.

    • Method for digitally franking postal articles during which a digital postage paid impression is generated by a computer and applied to a postal article. Postal article-specific data for one or more postal articles to be created are generated in a first computer at a customer, and the access to a remote second computer at a service provider is granted. Postal article-specific data for one or more postal articles are transmitted to the second computer. The postal article-specific data are processed in the second computer, and data for a digital postage paid impression are generated for each postal article. Afterwards, processing data are transmitted to accounting component, and a deduction of the franking is carried out at the customer. The postal-article specific data are transmitted with a digital postage paid impression for each postal article to be created to the first computer, and the data are recorded in the first computer. The postal article-specific data are then sent to a processor, and the data are printed for each respective postal article, whereupon the printed postal articles are placed in envelopes in the processor.

    • A method for producing steel slabs, whereby the strand leaves an ingot mold with melt enclosed by a strand shell and, in a strand guide located downstream, the opening width of guide rolls mounted in segments with upper and lower frames can be set in a continuous manner with successive steps by adjusting elements that join said guide rolls. An oscillation around a center line of the opening width serves to modify the opening width in order to render the dynamic influences on the guide rolls negligibly small. The amplitude of the opening width oscillation is set to ta quantity, which des not provoke any plastic deformation of the strand shell. The actual opening width of the guide rolls is detected and the actuating force of the adjusting elements as well as the amplitude of the actuating force are determined at the same time. In the case of an increasing amplitude of the actuating force, the opening width is set to a predeterminable measure and/or guided in a pressure controlled manner via at least one adjusting element. A force/path diagram of the opening width setting is then determined form a multitude of force/path measurements along the strand. Said diagram is composed, in a chain-like manner, of a multitude of small force path curves, which are each provided in the form of a hysteresis and which can be individually determined using an oscillation with a comparatively small amplitude.
