In at least one embodiment, the navigation device includes a processor to determine map information for subsequent display, based upon a determined route of travel of the navigation device, and being useable to control display of at least a portion of the map information; and an integrated input and display device to display the map information; the processor is further useable to control display of a static image of a location along the determined route of travel on the integrated input and display device simultaneously with the display of the map information when the navigation device is determined to be within a threshold distance of the location.
