    • Systems, methods, and media for a client device discovering remote user interface applications over a network are disclosed. Embodiments may include a remote user interface client of the client device receiving from a content directory service server a code fragment comprising a uniform resource indicator and determining whether the uniform resource indicator is associated with a remote-capable application. Further embodiments may include, in response to determining that the uniform resource indicator is associated with a remote-capable application, engaging by the client device a remote user interface server and receiving by the client device from the remote user interface server one or more display control commands associated with the remote-capable application and displaying a user interface based on the received display control commands. In some embodiments, engaging the remote user interface server comprises switching from the content directory service server. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.

    • Twin roll casters for casting thin steel strip comprise cooled casting rolls mounted on carriers. One roll is fixed and the other is moveable laterally and biased toward the other roll by carrier drive units acting on the moveable roll carriers. A casting pool of molten steel is supported on the rolls which are rotated to produce a solidified steel strip delivered downwardly from the nip therebetween. A gap is regulated between the rolls such that unsolidified molten metal passes through the nip between the solidified shells of the forming strip and solidifies below the nip. The carrier drive units are effective to apply to the biased roll substantially intermediate biasing forces such that the roll separation force at the casting rolls is regulated to a value between 2 and 4.5 Newtons per millimeter.

    • A system and method for producing thin cast strip by continuous casting is disclosed. The system includes a twin-roll casting apparatus having a pair of casting rolls positioned laterally adjacent each other to form a nip between the casting rolls through which metal strip may be continuously cast. A drive mechanism of the system is capable of individually driving the rotational speed of the casting rolls in a counter-rotational direction to cause the strip to pass through the nip between the casting rolls. A control mechanism of the system is capable of varying an alignment angle between the casting rolls to reduce effects of eccentricity in the casting rolls on a profile of the strip produced by the casting rolls.

    • Embodiments include systems and methods for allowing a host CPU to sleep while service presence packets and responses to search requests are sent by an alternate processor. While the CPU is in a low power state, the alternate processor monitors the network for incoming request packets. Also, while the CPU is asleep, the alternate processor periodically may transmit presence packets, announcing the presence of a service available from the host system of the CPU. In one embodiment, the alternate processor is a low power processor. If a search request is received when the CPU is in a low power state, the alternate processor responds to the search request according to whether the PC provides that service. If a service request is received, then the ME wakes the CPU of the PC to provide the requested service. In the wireless case, when the CPU is asleep, portions of the wireless upper MAC are implemented by the ME. When the CPU is awake the wireless upper MAC is implemented in the CPU. Thus, embodiments enable the PC to appear available to wireless devices when the CPU is asleep.
