    • An antenna device capable of not only achieving multiple resonances and wideband characteristics but also achieving improvement of antenna efficiency and accurate matching at all resonant frequencies, and a wireless communication apparatus. In one example, an antenna device 1 includes a radiation electrode 2 to which power is capacitively fed through a capacitor portion C1, and additional radiation electrodes 3-1 to 3-3 branched from the radiation electrode 2. A distal end portion 2a of the radiation electrode 2 is grounded to a ground region 402, and is a portion at which a minimum voltage is obtained when power is fed. A capacitor portion C2 that is a portion at which a maximum voltage is obtained when power is fed is disposed in a proximal end portion 2b of the radiation electrode 2, and a variable capacitance element 4 which is grounded is connected in series with the capacitor portion C2. The additional radiation electrodes 3-1 to 3-3 are connected to the radiation electrode 2 through switch elements 31 to 33, and include reactance circuits 5-1 to 5-3 in a middle thereof. Distal end portions of the additional radiation electrodes 3-1 to 3-3 are grounded to the ground region 402.

    • An antenna includes a parallel resonant circuit disposed in a non-ground region. The parallel resonant circuit includes a parallel radiation electrode pattern that is patterned in the non-ground region and a surface mount antenna component. The parallel radiation electrode pattern is connected in parallel to the surface mount antenna component. The parallel radiation electrode pattern is arranged in a loop so as to occupy the majority of the non-ground region and defines an inductor of the parallel resonant circuit. A pair of electrodes of the surface mount antenna component defines a capacitor having a capacitance corresponding to a distance between the pair of electrodes.

    • A surface mount antenna includes a loop-shaped radiation electrode arranged so as to be extended over a plurality of surfaces of a dielectric substrate.     • An antenna includes a radiation electrode, with one end thereof being connected to a conductive portion located on a front or back surface of a board. The radiation electrode extends outward from the conductive portion starting from the connected end, is bent around an edge of the board, and extends to a side opposite to the side of the starting point with a space therebetween. The other end of the radiation electrode is not connected to the conductive portion so as to function as an open end. Since the radiation electrode extends from one side to the other side of the board, the electric length of the radiation electrode can be increased. Accordingly, the size and thickness of the radiation electrode can be reduced while keeping a set resonance frequency. Also, since a space defined by the board and the radiation electrode can be increased, the gain is greatly improved and the bandwidth is significantly broadened.

    • A radiation electrode is formed on the upper face of the substantially columnar dielectric substrate. Feed electrodes for a fundamental mode and for a higher mode are formed on the side peripheral face of the dielectric substrate. Power is supplied through the respective feed electrodes to the radiation electrode via capacitive coupling. The radiation electrode has both of the functions in the fundamental and higher modes. Thus, the circular polarized wave antenna can be reduced in size. Furthermore, since a capacitive feeding system is employed as described above, the respective resonance frequencies in the fundamental and higher modes can be easily adjusted and set at predetermined frequencies. Also, the circularly polarized wave characteristics in the fundamental and higher modes can be easily enhanced, respectively.

    • A compact surface-mounted antenna having a wide frequency band. In the surface-mounted antenna, a first radiation electrode is formed on the left-half region of the upper surface of a base dielectric substrate. A multi-layer dielectric substrate is laminated on the upper surface of the base dielectric substrate to be bonded and fixed thereto. A second radiation electrode is formed on the right-half region of the upper surface of the multi-layer dielectric substrate.
