    • A vehicle seat includes a backrest frame and a seat frame connected to each other to form a seat structure. The seat includes a seat base adapted to be rigidly connected to the frame structure of a vehicle, and which is connected to the seat frame via a seat suspension. The seat further includes a tether which at one of its ends is attached to the seat back at a first, upper attachment point and at its other end attached at a second, lower attachment point in order to improve the strength of the seat in case of an accident. The seat is provided with at least one lever arm on the back side of the seat which shall be used as an attachment point for the tether or as a guide or support for the tether located in between the upper attachment point and the lower attachment point.

    • An adaptive cruise control system and a method for controlling the velocity of a host motor vehicle. An object detecting device is capable of simultaneously detecting several target objects. A separate control order is generated for each detected target object for influencing engine controls and brake controls of the host vehicle to control the velocity of the host vehicle. Control orders generated for several simultaneously detected target objects are then compared and the most restrictive control order among these is selected. At least one control signal based on the selected control order is then sent to at least one of the engine controls and the brake controls of the host vehicle to control the velocity of the host vehicle in accordance with the selected control order.

    • A safety arrangement is provided in a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle has a floor pan (1) terminating at its forward end with an inclined splash-wall (3, 4, 5). There is a moveable floor element (10) which has regions (12, 13, 14) which initially conform to and lie adjacent the splash-wall. There is a drive arrangement (15) associated with an accident sensor (16) to drive the moveable floor element rearwardly to a predetermined position. There is a fixed platform (17) located above a horizontal part of the floor pan to be located beneath the foot of a vehicle occupant and to provide a secure point for operation of a pedal. The movement of the moveable floor element (10) is restricted so that no part of the movable floor element impedes movement of a foot pedal (6) to the fully depressed condition.
