    • A power MOSFET, such as an n-channel MOSFET, is structured to increase the permissible maximum rate of change in voltage during reverse recovery by reducing or eliminating the well containing the active region under the gate bond pad, or any pad which must be isolated from the source metallization, and by providing a polysilicon sheet between the pad area and the substrate. In an n-channel MOSFET where the gate pad is to be protected, the well is a p-well and the active region is the p-region within the well. The p-region under the gate bond pad is reduced to a strip or ring corresponding to the proximity of the gate and the margin of the p-well surrounding the gate pad area. The polysilicon sheet is insulated from the gate pad by a dielectric layer and is held at the potential of the source by connection with the source metallization. The gate oxide area may extend only partially under the polysilicon sheet seperating the gate pad and the n-type substrate (or n-type epitaxial layer), while the remainder of the polysilicon sheet covers a region of field oxide.

    • A system and method for remote acquisition and delivery of goods includes a server in communication with customer computers, such as through a user interface via the internet. The server can store customer information including billing information, and may include an image processor. A mobile delivery system in communication with the server includes an energy efficient vehicle, an image capture device, a global positioning system, a communication device and a printer. In use, a customer communicates with a mobile delivery agent via the image capture device and the communication device to remotely acquire a product. Once acquired, the delivery agent delivers the product to a designated delivery location. The image capture device can be utilized during the entire transaction. The system preferably includes a processor for optimizing system efficiencies, including selecting a delivery agent based on the product, pick-up location and delivery site.

    • A keratome (10) and a method for using the keratome (10) for cutting a cornea of an eye (14) are provided which allow an operator to view the cutting operation as it occurs. The keratome (10) includes an annular housing (12) sized to contact the eye (14) and allow a portion (21) of the cornea to protrude therein. A motor housing (22) is mounted to the annular housing (12) for movement with respect thereto in a feed direction. A blade (36) is mounted by the motor housing (22) for movement in a cutting direction transverse to the feed direction, and a motor (26) mounted by the motor housing (22) is drivingly connected to the blade (36) to provide reciprocal movement thereof in the cutting direction. Movement of the motor housing (22) in the feed direction across the eye (14) accompanied by movement of the blade (36) in the cutting direction cuts the portion (21) of the cornea protruding into the annular housing (12), while an operator can view the cutting through the annular housing (12).
