    • The present invention comprises methods and apparatuses for causing a single imaging lens system to simultaneously form multiple high resolution images on multiple imaging sensor planes. The images are preferably substantially identical, with no parallax error, except for different light levels so that the multiple images are of sufficient quality and similarity that they may be compared and/or combined (typically pixel-by-pixel) to create a single instantaneous high dynamic range (HDR) image. The invention may be used to create high-resolution HDR snapshots of moving subjects, as well as high-resolution HDR moving pictures (e.g. cinematographic films, movies, or other video) in which the subject and/or camera is moving. Alternatively, the images are substantially identical except for different focuses.

    • A series of optical elements is used to produce multiple simultaneous adjoining images on a single image plane. A first, intermediate, image is produced using the first telecentric imaging lens. This intermediate image is produced at a plane coincident with an adjustable-size rectangular field stop. The rectangular field stop is mounted in a sub-housing that allows its free rotation. A second telecentric lens collimates the light from the intermediate image. This collimated light is next passed through an optical splitting means, which uses the principal of refraction to separate the light into multiple components. The optical splitting means is mounted in a sub-housing that allows its free rotation. From here, the light next passes through a third and final lens, which produces a second, final, image on a single, planar detection device. The final image consists of a plurality of identical copies of the intermediate image.

    • A system for simultaneously producing multiple images substantially identical images on multiple separate detector planes is disclosed. A reflective spatially beam-splitting element preferably comprising multiple reflective areas is preferably placed at a location substantially coincident with the pupil or aperture of the system. In non-diffraction limited systems, each area preferably comprises an actual cross section that is circular or has the rotational symmetry (or a multiple thereof) of the number of images to be formed. In diffraction limited systems, all of the areas preferably comprise actual cross sections that have the same shape, size and orientation with respect to the incoming optical beam. Each individual actual cross section may be due to the shape of each area, optionally in combination with a mask. Appropriate selection of filters enables real-time multi-spectral scientific imaging, imaging polarimetry, or high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) for photography and cinematography, even with a moving camera and/or moving subjects.

    • A non-lethal method and devices for dispersing nuisance birds from a preselected area. Such nuisance birds disrupt many activities such as the steady flow of safely moving aircraft on runways and adjacent thereto, growing crops on farmland, playing golf and the use of the interior of large open buildings. The present method utilizes a series of bright light sources that are positioned adjacent the area from which the birds are to be dispersed. The light sources are activated to produce one or more beams of bright light that are moved in such a manner to produce a pattern of bright light in the vicinity of the birds to be dispersed. This action causes the birds to become sufficiently startled and disoriented so as to disperse these nuisance birds from the area to be cleared.
