    • A light string power module is provided for providing power to light strings while replicating a lighting pattern from a first light string in providing said power. The illumination pattern of the first light string, which is not powered by the light string power module, is detected by examining the voltage polarities presented on the leads of a first connector to which the first light string is attached. These detected polarities are replicated by a switching module at matching leads on a second connector to which a second light string is attached. A power processing module accepts input power and provides output DC power to the switching module such that the second light string is powered by said output DC power in concert with the replicated voltage polarities so as to replicate the light pattern presented by the first light string on the second light string.

    • An LED diffusion element is provided having at least one cavity for receiving an LED light bulb. The LED diffusion element contains a conditioned surface on both its exterior surface and in a light collection area that is facing the LED light bulb when inserted into the LED diffusion element. In one aspect, the LED diffusion element has an “H-shaped” cross section formed by the two cavities created on opposite sides of the LED diffusion element. In this configuration a common, central light collection area within the LED diffusion element is created that allows for smooth blending of colors coming from multiple LEDs contained within the two LED bulbs. In another aspect, the LED diffusion element is cylindrical in shape and is dimensioned to fit within a light rope so as to provide a smooth lighting effect when the LEDs are illuminated within the light rope.

    • A synchronized lighting system is disclosed having a plurality of light strings. Individually, the light strings have groups of light bulbs, e.g. color groups, coupled to a power source that is driven by a sequencer that independently controls the power sequencing for the different light groups. The light strings have a configurable connector coupled to both the sequencer and the power source for controlling the routing of power control signals issued by the sequencer to the power source. The connector is capable of being coupled to the configurable connectors of other light stings with interconnecting wiring such that the power control signals from one light string sequencer may be distributed to the other connected and properly configured light strings. The connector is configurable in one of several modes: a stand-alone mode where the sequencer issues power control signals for its own power source, a master mode that extends the stand-alone functionality to include the transmission of the power control signals from the sequencer over wiring coupled to the master connector, and a slave mode in which the connector routes power control signals from coupled wiring to the power source. In one embodiment, the synchronized system is obtained when one connector within the plurality of interconnected light strings is configured as a master and other connectors are configured as slaves thereby allowing one sequencer to synchronously control the power sequencing of both its own groups of lights and those of the other light strings.

    • An illuminated ornament is provided having an internally disposed support structure for mounting lighting elements within the ornament. In one aspect, the structure is a rod, hub and spoke arrangement in which the rod extends along an axis of the ornament with lighting elements being disposed at numerous locations along the axial positions on the rod and radial positions on the spokes. In another aspect, the ornament is divided into separate illuminated segments, each having its own lighting elements placed appropriately within each segment. In any arrangement, the goal of uniform ornament illumination and overall ornament color control is provided by proper placement of the LEDs on the support structures, possibly in combination with coloration of the ornament shell, color enhancement apparatus contained on the shell and/or in combination with external, electronic controlled access to the color display of the LEDs.

    • Method for removing a ceramic core from a casting in a relatively rapid manner wherein the casting and a fluid spray nozzle are disposed in a manner to expose a region of the core to a core dissolving fluid discharge of the nozzle and a core dissolving fluid is discharged from the nozzle toward the core region to contact the core region and dissolve core material therefrom and progressively from further regions of the core within the casting as they become exposed as core material is progressively removed. The discharge of fluid from the nozzle can be interrupted periodically to allow dissolved core material and fluid to drain from inside the casting or, alternately, the casting and nozzle can be relatively moved so that the casting can drain and/or forced air can be directed at the casting to this same end at a location spaced apart form the nozzle.
