    • A power controller for power sourcing equipment in a distributed power network provides power down policies and priority in the event of a power supply failure. The power down priority and policy permits implementation of a rapid decrease in the power demand of the distributed power network to avoid overload of a backup power supply. The priority may be derived based on the relative position of port information in a linked list. Devices associated with a high priority can remain powered in response to a main power supply failure, while lower priority devices can be rapidly powered down to reduce the overall load demand on the backup power supply. The ability to configure ports on the basis of priority and available policies provides a flexible and simple implementation of a response in the event of a main power supply failure.

    • Database interaction is facilitated by graphically presenting database objects in groups that are not necessarily dictated by object types of the database objects. In an example implementation, database navigation is facilitated by determining object dependency groups for a database in which each object dependency group corresponds to a database source object and includes at least those database objects that depend directly or indirectly from the corresponding database source object. When these data source object-based dependency groups are graphically displayed, selecting a database object thereof provides access thereto. In another example implementation, a user can designate an attribute associated with database objects by which the database objects are to be grouped. Thus, the database objects are grouped by various values that the user-designated associated attribute takes. These designated attribute-based value-driven groups may also be graphically displayed to enable navigation of and access to the different database objects assigned to them.

    • A method and system are provided for inferring a schema from an electronic document containing hierarchical data for use in a spreadsheet application program. The electronic document containing the hierarchical data is received into an application program. The application program may be a spreadsheet application program. The format of the hierarchical data structure may be XML. The hierarchical data includes a set of nodes making up the structure of the hierarchical data. The nodes may be XML elements and attributes. The hierarchical data is then parsed to discover one of the nodes in the hierarchical data. Once the node has been discovered, content associated with the discovered node is saved to a memory location in the computer system. The content may include data associated with the discovered node and the type of data associated with the node. The hierarchical data is then parsed again to discover subsequent nodes until the content for all of the nodes has been saved to the memory location. Then a schema generator generates schema elements using complex rules based on the particular qualities of each discovered node for each discovered node until a schema is generated for the hierarchical data.

    • An integrated telecommunication system for multiple telephone line response and processing having a plurality of interface circuits, each of which is adapted to control the physical connection to a plurality of telephone line channels, control communication on a group of telephone line channels connected thereto. Each interface circuit includes a high speed interface microprocessor and a first data storage associated therewith. A first bus system interconnects the plurality of interface processor circuits to signal processor circuits. Each signal processor module includes a cross-point switch and a high speed digital signal microprocessor for analyzing the incoming signals and compressing the data therein, a second data storage associated therewith, and one or more of a plurality of telecommunication function circuits controlled thereby. A multi-bus system connects each of the plurality of interface processors to each of the plurality of signal processor circuits and to a main system control processor and a third data storage. The high speed processing requirements of each group of telephone lines is performed by the respective interface control processor and a digital signal microprocessor and main system control processor selectively controls the storage of data in the first, second and third data storages and intercommunication functions between the plurality of interface processor circuits and the plurality of signal processor circuits and the function circuits controlled thereby.
